Thats true of hartals called by the AL in the past. People do not leave their houses out of fear during AL imposed strikes. In the case of the BNP most people ignore their call for hartal but not this time. There seems to have been real support for the hartal.

None of my familly car got out with a fear of getting picked by the picketer. Its the same story for most of my neighbour.. Nothing to do with the politics... Now you have a different story? What did you for the whole day? Picketing?

It's true that people dislike and bother by Hartal. In future people will hate it more.

It's true that there is nothing to be proud by showing empty streets.

It's very very true that AL did extreme extreme extreme terrorism during their Hartal period in past and people could not go outside for fear. AL used to give continuous Hartal like 15 days at a time. Any member who denies it is a complete lier. BNP is not terrorist.

There are well reasons for BNP to give Hartal against hell-AL govt but may be timing is not right.

I was out on a rickshaw in Banani and Gulshan and saw no BNP picketers but the public were observing the hartal with shops closed and very few cars out. Even where the BNP cannot enforce its hartal as in the high class areas of Dhaka the public still overwhelmingly observed the strike.

My be they are not blinded by Awami deception. If they live in BD then they must be experiencing Awamis misrule. Face it, no sane Bangladeshi would support Awami chatra league activities for last 18 months beside blind Bharat loving by Awami thighs.

Here is one graph exposing ghoti and indian dalal eastwatch. 2006 BNP left economy with 6.7% GDP growth and since then indian stooge Meen U and Awami stooge govt brought down the GDP to 5.5%. That is just one stat and people has responded rejecting this indian stooge awami regime.

When there is no other legitimate means to protest then hartal becomes the only option. When the hartal is observed by the people without intimidation or force then no one can protest. The AL used violence to make people observe hartal. Have you forgotten the incident of making people strip off all their clothes if they did not observe hartal. This only happened during AL hartals.
