A suicide blast has reportedly killed 15 people and injured 20 others, in the Adezai area of Matni, located 30 km south of Peshawar.

According to Express 24/7 correspondent Umar Farooq, authorities confirmed the explosion took place during the funeral of the wife of Kala Khan, a member of the peace committee.

DCO Peshawar informed that the blast was caused by a suicide bomber.

More casualties are feared as around 150 people belonging to the peace militia were present at the site.

The injured are being moved to hospitals, including Lady Reading Hospital, in Peshawar in Rescue 1122 ambulances as well as private vehicles, while the police have cordoned off the area.

This is not the first time a blast of such nature has taken place in the area. Farooq reports that this is the fifth major blast of its kind.

Similar attacks have taken place in the past. Earlier an attack that targeted Haji Abdul Malik had resulted in killing 47 died, while last year the secretary of the peace committee was also targeted in an IED explosion last year.

RIP. So it was a funeral for one and got turned into funeral for so many. What a sad incidence.

What a shame. And the curse of the useless WOT continues. No wonder such things are bound to happen when you fight against ghosts and shadows.

Some strategies must be implemented to combat terrorist activities inside Pakistan... there is clearly nothing being done to combat these internal threats posed by terrorists.

Second blast in 2 days.. :(

RIP to the deceased.

BBC News - Deadly attack at Pakistan funeral procession

At least 25 people have been killed in a suicide bombing at a funeral procession in north-western Pakistan.

Officials said the funeral was for the wife of a pro-government ethnic Pashtun tribal elder in the Matani area in the troubled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

It was being attended by many anti-Taliban militiamen in north-west Pakistan, police said.

Several anti-Taliban tribal groups are based in Matani and they are often targeted by the insurgents.

A spokesman for the Taliban told the BBC that they carried out the bombing.

He said it was in retaliation for the support by local tribal militia of the ongoing anti-Taliban operation by Pakistan's security forces.

The BBC's Syed Shoaib Hasan says the area has seen attacks in recent weeks by the Taliban militants.

The area is close to the Khyber and Darra Adam Khel tribal regions both of which were Taliban strongholds until anti-insurgency operations were launched recently, our correspondent adds.

The attack comes a day after at least 26 people were killed and more than 120 injured in a car bomb explosion at a gas station in the city of Faisalabad.

The Taliban said they were behind Tuesday's attack.

Honestly there was a time i used to watch with glee every time a bomb goes off Pakistan thinking its a blast from the past(deeds).

That negative feeling couldn't stay long and now i rather feel that few more common men died again in mindless violences and some crippled for life ,for fault of their own . They along with their families going to suffer more pain what is already a hard life.
