I have alot of complaints regarding this government but one thing that i will forever be grateful for is IK launching this campaign. We need more and more trees. Government should make it compulsory for a student in school to plant a tree at class 1 and maintain it till class 10.

Eucalyptus Trees

Nothing wrong with the tree , fix the irrigation system

Eucalypts have been grown in plantations in many other countries because they are fast growing and have valuable timber, or can be used for pulpwood, for honey production or essential oils.

nice move but please dont plant eucalyptus trees other then the areas where there is problem of water logging and salinity.

I remember a scene from Mr Bean. Where his car is destroyed but his self made door lock is intact. And he wants to buy a new car for it. So rather than changing the tree type in plantation you are going to make a whole irrigation system just to prove that you are right. Will you irrigate a jungle ? Lolx kuch bhi?

Eucalyptus tree is only suitable for saline land or river banks. Planting it across indiscriminately will make whole of that area desert , because it will suck all the water from the ground. If you dont know now you know.

Eucalyptus tree is the most shittiest tree you can find around. And you can only produce match sticks out of it. By default its a soft wood mostly useless with lesser or no economic value. So planting it on the wrong land is wrong which makes your whole argument wrong.Stop spreading misinformation.

Eucalyptus tree has a property that it can even regenerate after a fire and it's timber is worth money, most commonly found in Australia. The seeds of the tree can even regenerate into new tree even after a fire

Grows rapidly 10-15 feet per year and great massive biomass around it, biomass helps create natural fertilizer (biomass) which fights against desertification
  • No tree ever is harmful to Human Environment

I am sure the Government has researchers to pick the appropriate trees, from the department of agriculture :pakistan::pakistan::pakistan: We have experts looking after this

For the Metro Areas , Pakistani does not have a proper water distribution system for city beautification work for these areas having a distribution system for water helps to grow any kind of Tree

I could just say that if you think, drinking water from a sewerage drain and pretending you will not get sick is alright, then I cannot expect anything more. The consequences of planting it on fertile soil is devastating. It does not have any timber really. Well plant it in your agri land if you have, and prove what you are saying My love ! the whole science is against you.

Doing Parchar for planting trees is good but planting the wrong thing in the wrong place has devastating effects, see for yourself Islamabad! where the pollen devastates people each year. Dont destroy our future Generations for your agendas.

The aim in planting trees should be and must be creating/respecting a biodiversity. If we plant same tree everywhere in Pakistan we will end as in Soviet Union (as per what we were taught in school here in France) that they were told to make 8 millions shoes. Factories made 8 millions shoes but only left foot shoes. The forgot right foot shoes.

I hope they are not planting same trees because they were told to plant million trees.

Again... biodiversity is important. So check which wildlife we have, what are their needs, which kind of trees do they need, etc...

Well Pakistan does have Ministry of Agriculture :police:
http://www.parc.gov.pk/index.php/en/

The land is fertile and rich , any tree or plant can be brought and planted provided it offers benefits

a) Olive plantation
b) Plam trees

Etc Considering how closely the weather in KPK and Northern regions of Pakistan matches to that of Canada or USA , even trees from North America can be brought and planted in Pakistan their is not major advantage of disadvantage of strong blockade on biodiversity

Sindh/Baluchistan are more suitable for Saudi Arabian style Date trees/Palm trees as well

Sir G, What I understand about Eucalyptus is, this tree is consuming too much water, which will drop the water table of area and will create an issue of water scarcity. Usually it is advised to be planted in area with water logging issues.

That is true, sir. It has created havoc in many pockets in India where it has been planted. In some areas farmers have been up in arms and uprooted the trees.
