Biggest Shopping Mall in South Asia - LUCKY ONE MALL KARACHI+ HYPERSTAR | 4K

Just as "pretty" and yet faceless as
any good mall in the West or for that
matter, any fashion-related endeavour.

Not a fan of consumerism, Tay.

Alternative is Soviet style economy with bread lines and inefficiencies.
Consumerism means more jobs and less poverty.

A big fan of modernization!!!

Yeah, I know Rusty but honestly,
I like specificities because I'm not
in the norm much myself, you see!

When I go to the mall in Pakistan,
I expect something to be local in it.

There was a flocking KFC in that vid.
Stop the ridiculous formatting, pliz.

That's fashion as I said :
Fashion :
The fact for hundreds of thousands of people
to buy and wear the exact same shirt everywhere
so they can all look like their idol,
whom looked so special wearing it.

'makes no sense

Tay.

Nice! Much much better than the tacky AF vertical street bazaar in dhaka they call Jomona Futore Park.

Seen the pictures, inside as well, the building seems a bit tacky and gross...if not hideous.

Vertical street bazaar is a new term...also the total area of this Jamuna future park is about 1.6 million sq.feet, Lucky One mall mentioned above is about 3.2 million sq.feet, talking about the size.

I’ve been there, unfortunately, and it’s ugly as sin. Not only is it badly lit, but also has the most downmarket retail mix you could possibly think of.

B'deshi's obsession to create the biggest rivaling anything in India and Pakistan too. Need to compete in quality though, 'small is beautiful' kind of idea, something to do with ingrained, intrinsic complex...I am leaving it to the people to decide whether it is superiority or inferiority complex.

Mate, big shopping malls are boring IMO. Not sure why having the biggest mall is somehow supposed to be a badge of honour for any city/country. I’d rather go to a nice standalone shop that sells amazing things, or even a small-ish mall that’s high-end with high levels of quality.

It's a relatively new thing, kind of fad...people like to hang around in climate controlled cool environs...for lower middle class it's an 'In' thing and a way out to a surreal heaven, an 'escapade' kind of feeling.

Mostly the food courts do a roaring business and the children play areas as well...it is all marketing, child pulls in the customers here and with impulsive shopping, they tend to buy more than what is required.

Malls are a happening place in south Asia, points to lack of outdoor public spaces to hang out, lack of entertainment to put it simply...

Hopefully, in due course, south Asians will grow out of it just like the west has. I like that we still have old bazaars, though, and it’s important that they be patronised as much as possible in order to never lose them.
