That pretty much sums it up. The quad is just a lot of noise that won’t amount to much. Unfortunately India will take the brunt of the damage and this will seriously impact its long term growth.QUAD;
Japan too old to fight.
Australia too small to fight.
India too much fight.
USA can't be bothered to really fight (unless you belong to the post second world war countries they backed).
India made it clear that it would take a hostile position against China by jumping on the Trump and Pompeo train in late 2019. When covid hit, India was among the loudest in making hostile accusations. This was all politically motivated. Modi thought China was down and he could kick it in order to gain concessions but instead he ended up down on the ground and getting kicked because India has an incompetent government.I fully agree with you on this. Peace in a region is must for prosperity. Billions of dollars getting wasted on military hardware could have gone towards poverty alleviation in India.
India having good relations with US had nothing to do as a move against China. US is a superpower and having good relations with it is good for trade and business. Formation of QUAD and similar moves in the future are doing of China. India would have probably remained out of it, had it not been for Chinese aggression.
