first of all,
1. there is a diff between convicted criminal n a suspected criminal.
2. the encounter which followed, was an encounter, until it is proved otherwise by the court of law.
3. if the encounter turns out to be fake, sufficient measures should be taken to avoid further occurences.

having said that i have some more observations. fake encounters take place only under two circumstances----
1. the convicts (proven or otherwise) are a threat to some high flying neta/industrialist or both in their cases of corruption etc.
2. convicts (proven or otherwise) are actually guilty but impossible for the law agencies to prove them guilty in the court of law.

now in which category the "terrorists" lie, only time will tell.

3. Taking Terrorist alive highly increase the fatality on Police department where Terrorist can Suicide blast himself.
4. He fired at police while they were trying to capture him so police retaliated.

So many assumptions and seriously are we going to play Devil advocate here for terrorist ? Are we traitors or what or just bored :/

sir, can i ask u for the link (or source) from where u found this info ? (in case that ur points are not general but explicitely for the current encounter in question)
if watever u say is true for this case (points 3 n 4), then the police did the right thing. after all, "right to self defence" is for all, police included.

As you can see i clearly carried out the assumption in sequence to your first 2 points while indicating the word "assumption" to make things clear.

My point is assumption is very flawed in those cases where one can make optimist and other pessimist regarding the person POV.
