I'm probably going to take a lot of heat for this.

While Gandhi can be respected for being unselfish and doing what he thought was best, I'm not really that supportive of him. I don't think non-violence as an ideology in general is something that needs to be adhered to. I also strongly criticize Gandhi's racism towards blacks in South Africa.

Perhaps most importantly though, I think Gandhi had no right to call of the non-cooperation movement just because there was violence in a few instances. Countless people had participated in the movement at great personal sacrifice and Gandhi decided to end that movement because he didn't like losing control of the movement. As far as I'm concerned, his actions were unforgivable.

actually w should have notes like in US...different denominations having differnt leaders.....

leaders like vallabhai patel, nehru, netaji, bhagat singh, rajguru , tilak also deserve to be represented...

This is rather naive. I respect Bhagat Singh for the love he had for his country. But he still took to violence which didn't do much good for he general public. With all his faults, Gandhi was a visionary who amassed the support of hundreds of millions of people . His great political acumen made him a living legend and earned the world's sympathy for Indian cause.

i am a staunch supporter of Bhagat singh.gandhi, nehru all these are useless people,do you guys really belive gandhi got us freedom ? Adolf Hitler got us freedom,it is as simple as that england was broke after ww2 and they simply decided that can no longer maintain colonies so they decided to call off there rule.
I do not believe in that non violence bull ****(it can be useful on some occasions),but tell me if there was no ww2,you think that Britishers will leave that easily ?

Feels so weird to agree with an Indian on this topic
I feel the same way, it wasn't Gandhi who got us freedom, it was Hitler.
