Bhagat Singh still a convict in India, Pakistan records
Lahore: Do you know that legendary revolutionary Bhagat Singh is still a convicted criminal in the police records of India and Pakistan? He was executed in 1931. However, eighty years after his death and 65 years after the Independence of India and Pakistan, nobody cared about getting his name removed from the official criminal record. Finally, a person in Lahore has taken the initiative as he has filed a plea in Lahore high court to reopen the case.

A person named Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi has filed the petition to reopen the case against late Bhagat Singh in which he had been given the death penalty.

Qureshi said in his petition that Bhagat Singh was first given a life sentence, which was wrongly later turned into death sentence later. He said is very popular in Sikhs and Muslims. Even the father of nation Mohammad Ali Jinnah had called him ‘Warrior of Independence.’ He even paid homage to the revolutionary in Parliament. The case should be re-opened and he should be pronounced not guilty.

Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were sentenced to death in the Lahore conspiracy case and ordered to be hanged on 24 March 1931. That schedule was moved forward by 11 hours to 23 March, although Singh was not informed of this until the day arrived. Singh was hanged on 23 March 1931 at 7:30 pmn Lahore jail with his comrades Rajguru and Sukhdev. It is reported that no magistrate of the time was willing to supervise his hanging as was required by law. The execution was supervised by an honorary judge, who also signed the three death warrants as their original warrants had expired. The jail authorities then broke the rear wall of the jail and secretly cremated the three martyrs under cover of darkness outside Ganda Singh Wala village, and then threw the ashes into the Sutlej river.

Really felt sad after reading this. When we watch movies or telecast of something which is related these brave & loyal sons of undivided India, our heartbeat increases, it fills us with a different kind of expression.
This is the most humiliating & heinous act done by our governments.
