From where is the Pakistan People's Party collecting funds for the Benazir Income Support Program?
what is there business model ?
Where is the government of Pakistan getting funds for the Benazir Income Support Program?....

.
The PPP socialists thought it would be very beneficial to literally hand out cash to people so the economy can spur up. Such a good way of eradicating poverty and lack of business in Pakistan :disagree:. It would make sense to tax the rich and then spend on the human capital of the poor. But PPP thinks that printing more money and handing it out to people is a good way to get votes.
The moment current govt. decides to slash BISP, dekhna saaray Bhutto aik dam se zinda ho jain ge.

It is nothing, but a scheme to reward the voters. It has nothing to do with poverty alleviation.
Sir g a naked truth is that even in some area numbardar / well income persons of the village has many BNISP cards in his own famliy instead of poor peoples. Ithink your good self also knows abouy it. The real beneficiaries are in between 30 to 40% as per my assessment.

Of course, only select few get the opportunity to benefit from this scheme.

Some it comes from UK taxpayers like me.

The Department for International Development of the United Kingdom is the largest foreign backer of the program, providing $244 million (or 27%) of the total funds in 2016 with the Pakistani Government providing the rest.[5][6][7]

Both foreign and local taxpayers are burdened by this senseless program which successive governments have continued.

It goes against not only common sense but also the entire "teach a man to fish" model that Western sustainable development insists on --- yet this is what foreign aid agencies (and our own idiotic governments) are pouring hundreds of millions of $ into.

I cannot stand people who still think the West stands for progress.

It does. Ask -

  • Chinese
  • Japanese
  • Singaporans
  • Turks
  • South Koreans
  • Taiwanese

All non European peoples. All only non European people to have developed. Recipe. Copy the west copiously.

I find this hypocritical to say the least. Cash transfers to the poorest is a sin. But cash transfers to the inept and lazy or corrupt is halal. Think of PIA, Pak Steel and other public bodies/corporations that are eating billions of dollars of government money to keep 100,000s fed on this gravy train. That is okay?

But some really poor get help and your screaming?

.
Regardless of the merits or otherwise of the programme, why is a state funded, state administered programme allowed to be named after a party political personality thereby clearly establishing an electoral and political advantage in the minds of the beneficiaries, to the party with which that personality is linked?

My dear fellow poster who has, unfortunately, missed the context of both my points.

I must draw your attention to the specific topic being discussed in this thread: the financial sense of the BISP, a cash handout program that defies all logic and principles of sustainable development and was set-up as a vote-buying scheme.

In this specific regard, I mentioned that the West is not always for progress. They are pouring in hundreds of millions of dollars into a cash-for-votes scheme that has no sustainable value. Instead, they could set up training institutes (under their own motto of "give a man a fish and you feed for him a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him forever") and do a lot more to bring meaningful change in the lives of the poor. Even microfinance which allows poor villagers to buy a cow or other income-generating animal/object is infinitely better.

Therefore, in the context of this thread, I must insist that the West is AGAINST progress. I majored in Sustainable Development at Columbia and Jeffrey Sachs & Co drilled this stuff into our heads --- and complained that it is programs/reasons like these (BISP) that developing nations often aren't able to transition to 'developed' status... and then they turn around and fund these same programs. This is where they want us. Financially in debt and therefore in servitude. Of course in terms of economic growth with a focus on R&D, free markets, etc., the Western neoliberal economic model still has some merits.

The same goes for their hypocrisy on human rights, privacy, freedom of speech, etc. --- their largest trade partner is China and their largest arms buyer is Saudi Arabia. Neither country ranks very high on democracy, transparency, etc etc etc. Yet we have to hear these sermons on the smallest incidents. I don't take them seriously, because it's clearly a case of the pot calling the kettle black, but many of the self-proclaimed pseudo-intellectual/liberal elite do.

...which provides a perfect segue into your final and most painful allegation: that complaining about BISP being a waste of financial resources is hypocritical given all the money usurped by the corrupt ruling elite over the decades. Again, you failed to take context into account: in the narrow confines of the topic of this thread, I was engaging in a criticism of BISP. But it's not a zero sum game. Corrupt politicians are scum and they have drained this country not only of financial resources but also of meritocracy and talent. I have complained about them in various threads and suggested extreme measures (including brutal violence) by designating them (economic) terrorists and handing out the same treatment we do to "regular" terrorists.

It is because of the incompetent and nepotistic leadership/governance that we've had for decades (both military and civilian) that wasteful programs like BISP not only come into being but continue to prosper.

I am all for charity --- but smart charity.

You do realize that the Pakistan government has the freedom and authority to refuse such charity, right?
