Belgium Burka Ban: Diplomat Rips off Qatari Princess' Niqab

1. It doesn't matter if she is princess of quatar or princess peach from Super Mario. Her laughable medival tribal clan structure doesn't give her a special bonus here.

2. Coming here and walking around like a ghost of Pacman is an insult to european culture and a security risk. She does not behave european, then she should leave.

3. My own teacher ripped off the veil of a turkish girl at school with the comment " hats down in the school building" and i support this. Im not allowed to wear a base ball cap in school, so its just fair.

4. You dont like our culture? Fine! visit a place that suits you more then. Nobody forced princess Toadstool to come here.

If i visit any muslim country with my girl and she would go with Bikini into city we would be arrested.
It seems in your culture the law means nothing and anybody can execute its own version of law.
Its very interesting .
By the way here we call that Anarchy not Democracy , but well in some cultures common world have different meaning .

We have something called "social duty". If you see a crime you must act to prevent it. Of course its better to call the police. But you are from Iran. Here we have a women claiming that a man ripped her veil off. In Iran she would need several male witnesses. We only have the words of this women. So in Iran the judge would say it did not even happen.

She commited a crime under Belgian law so I don't feel any empathetic for her.
I wonder in your society in case of a crime you rather who execute the punishment , police or somebody on the street. who probably knew nothing about the law.

oh really? I thought chinese are the most racist of all. :) Forcing men to shave, erasing entire cultures and so on. You move on thin ice buddy.
well by my understanding Japanese society is more self centered than Chinese society

Hatred for Muslims has never bothered me until now, I find it's increasing at an alarming rate.

In fact, it's not just increasing, it's being made public, as if it's a normal political stance to vilify an entire religion and it's followers.
I don't know how the moderate Muslims can do anything to reverse this trend.

It is still not too late to bring back glory back to Islam and its adherents. If the moderates and conservatives do not allow few extremists in your midst to hijack your religion then you have hope. These extremists abduct girls, behead journalists and rape women all in the name of holy jihad. How ironic and sad??? It is mix of politics, nationalism and religion that is fueling this extremist movement.

well it seems the definition of social duty is different here and there . in some society its beating black and blue the one who disobeyed the law , here I believe its informing the police.

and by the way no she don't need male witness female witness are also sufficient . and determining that if during the assault there is some injury is up to forensic medicine

Not much different from the Americans always trying to bring their guns with them here and then make a huge fuss when they are punished..."I didn't know!", "The punishment is too harsh for an honest mistake!", and the most ridiculous "The border guards could have just turned them back!".

Or Europeans crying every time one of their citizens is prosecuted in China.

Following foreign law is fine, but hypocrites are not.

the problem is that it's whose duty to execute the law . and also if the punishment also include bodily assault ?

Belgium Burka Ban: Diplomat Rips off Qatari Princess' Niqab - Yahoo News UK

A senior Brussels diplomat and chief of protocol has admitted to removing the veil of a Qatari princess by force.

Jean-Marie Pire, 60, is employed by the Brussels council to welcome foreign dignitaries to the Belgian capital and heart of the European Union.

He was approached by the wealthy woman and two female companions in central Brussels, asking for directions to the famous Grand Palace when the diplomat removed the woman's niqab, a black full-face veil.

"I said I don't talk to anyone if I can't see their face," said Pire. "With this reply, I wanted to make it clear that the veil is banned in Belgium.

"Because the person asking me a question didn't seem to hear me, I lifted her veil. I know I shouldn't have done that, but what she did wasn't legal either!"

The woman, who has not been named, claimed Pire violently ripped her earrings when trying to take off her niqab, causing cuts and bruises to the victim.

As well as its neighbour France, Belgium banned face-coverings in 2012, imposing fines for wearing veils in what is widely known as the "burka ban".

Local officials have already given the unnamed woman a €125 fine for breaching the ban on face-coverings. She also faces up to seven days in prison for wearing the garment in public.

There is currently no ban on veils in Britain but some Conversative MPs have called for such a law.

'We will never have a fully functioning, fully integrated multi-cultural society if growing numbers of our citizens go around with their faces covered,' Conservative MP Philip Hollobone has previously argued.

Don't scroll down to the comments guys, unless you want to read about bigots voicing their approval for a racially/religiously motivated assault.
She could have simply been arrested as per law. Forcefully removing the cloth is deeply offensive and illegal.

one cannot presume arrogance, not everybody knows local laws when they arrive in a foreign country.
The onus lies on the visitor. Not the visited.

Until people truly denounce the (numerous) bad eggs in the religion then it will rightfully keep getting worse. Never seen people demonstrating en masse against any extremists or would be terrorists, hate preachers still operate in many cities and attract decent crowds and the family of people who go must be aware and its not hard to discourage them to stop going but seen as the number of extremists are increasing I think everyone is being naive to what their family members are getting up to, they all act surprised when they find out that there son had just vanished and gone to Syria, oh come on get real.
