You're missing one big point, it's not only about the gap, for example Pakistan's economy is tiny compared to India yet India would think 100 times before attacking Pakistan, only because of those strategic deterrence that Pakistan offers.

Bangladesh has always ignored the need of greater military capabilities as our top most priorities have been poverty reduction, education etc. But we have already realized we need to shed some light on this issue after the recent adventurisms by Myanmar. In future the policy makers will make sure we have the necessary deterrence to resist any adventurism from "both" of our neighbors.
