KARACHI : As Les Bleus clinched their second World Cup title after a thrilling final win over Croatia, social media was quick to underscore that the team had seven Muslim players in it and how the country must apply its on-field victories off the field as well.

Adil Rami, Djibril Sidibé, Benjamin Mendy, Paul Pogba , N’Golo Kanté, Nabil Fekir and Ousmane Dembélé all practice the faith.

The country which is often in the spotlight for its Islamophobic social policies won the ultimate footballing prize with a team that is one-third Muslim.

Twitterati called on France to put an end to its “hypocrisy” and acknowledge the foundational and positive role Muslims play in developing its society.

In a political sense, this is not to be.

They are Muslim, but they are also French, so, the problem is not whether or not their right have not been uphold or their dignity have been uphold is not because they are Muslim or not, but to a sense, that is because they are French.

As a secular country, religion take no part of nationality and national development, which mean in the end, how French see these people are not that these people are Muslim, I mean you would not see any ordinary French as Christian, so why we need to see these people as what they practices?

On the other hand, these is not a simple issue as the writer make out to be, because these people are different than those Muslim who bomb and kill innocent French on French Street, the vigilant is there to take a part, and when you are a part of community, you feel you are a part of the community, and whether or not you are of Buddhist, Christianity, Muslim or nec faith, you have the same dignity and right then the next person. If you feel your right is violated, it is not because you are a Muslim or aforementioned faith, it's because you are a French citizens.

So saying "French Team is an african team or an immigrant one" is false and wrong.
For Us, those players are French... In France, we use the 3 Words "Black-Blanc-Beur" aka Black-White-Arab" Therefore Origin is already accepted for such team... as paying tribute to their heritage and our Multiculturalism.

Low IQs here in this forum are trying hard to promote their xenophobic, supremacist far-right agenda.
France is not the U.S., therefore colored people are not synonym of immigrants. Indeed, those are mostly indigenous people from the former vast colonial French Empire, and their grandparents probably already spoke some french.
Instead of the modern "Black-Blanc-Beur" it was called then "Trois couleurs, un drapeau, un Empire " (Three colors, one flag, one Empire).
Therefore in France, their are at home, and not going to leave. QED!

Things are a bit different on the ground... I understand the critics from both sides... Both are right and wrong, it depends on the situation...
The Muslim community complain is that when something bad happen... Origin and Religion is the first thing that is put ahead, even though that same person is French Born and Raised... But When it's all good, The society call them French and refuse to acknowledge or put ahead their Origin or/& Faith... That's the double standard that is fueling anger among some...

Religion and Secularism in France are taking a different road than what it was intended in the beginning...
The State in France has a purpose to not get into "Religious" Matter... meaning she needs to let each "Religion" be governed by their respective believers... and guarantee the Freedom to believe and exercise your faith, according to the Law of the Republique. But Nowadays the State is giving the image (by their actions/laws etc...) to Direct/Teach/Force Religion to behave according to a secularist state... Aka Making Secularism a religion...

Many, think that is only Islam that is targeted... Yes Islam take a an important part in those State actions, But Catholics are also complaining, they feel that their "Identity" is being washed by this ever growing "Secularism"
And some extreme political parties, are taking the blame on "The expansion of Islam" as a consequence to their "Identity lose"....

IMO, Saying that X or Y is a French and adding his Faith is not a problem... Many will argue that Faith is a personal matter and shall not be on the public space... I just think Faith is also part of you Identity as much as Being French... Therefore by suppressing the liberty to express it, it's also a condition that "will" alienate many, with the consequences that comes with it...
