Why were freeway lanes shut down, in some cases up to an hour or more before Xi’s motorcade was even on the move?
Why didn’t the Chinese president travel around the region by helicopter?
Who came up with his travel plans?
Correct, who came up with the plans to burden the average Americans ?
“There was a first meeting between Washington (state) people and China people probably over a month ago … So we had some talks, and then they sketched out for us in detail, ‘Here’s what we want to do.’ And from that, we could make suggestions of course, and we did. But most of those suggestions in terms of logistics were not taken.
Surprise...surprise...surprise...!!! It took literally weeks of planning between the Chinese advance team and the US host to make Xi's visit respectable and respectful, even at the point of making a burden on the average Americans.
Now...If the Americans on this forum commented that we should not make concessions to heads of state visits, make Xi travels the same traffic conditions as the average Americans does, we would be accused left/right up/down and inside out of being uncouth, uncivilized, and not worthy of superpower status.
“The first thing that came up was the airport. The suggestion (to the Chinese) was, ‘If you landed at Boeing Field instead of Paine Field, you’d be in downtown much quicker and there’s much easier access; that’s where our presidents fly in.’ That did not change. We don’t know if that was a Chinese decision or a Secret Service decision. So then when they decided still to land there (Paine Field), we suggested that would be a good time to visit Boeing. Obviously (that suggestion) was not (taken).
The highlighted is significant.
The local government was not informed of why certain decisions were made to make Xi's state visit secured. But on this forum, the PDF Chinese insisted on seeing these top secret plans before they can believe their government insulted US.
Q: What are some of the other recommendations made to the Chinese advance team that weren’t taken?
Postman: “There were a lot of things. It’s been reported a lot there was a scheduled dinner at Bill Gates’ house. There never was. There was an invitation made, but it was never accepted. So there were some surprising things, from our standpoint, and I think that was one of them. Gary Locke presented the invitation on behalf of the Gates family, but it was never accepted or responded to.
So there was a Chinese advance team. Nothing unusual about that. They worked with the Americans and came up with an agreement on what the guest and host would do. Nothing unusual about that.
But when it comes to the American President...Holy Shit...!!! What a burden on the Chinese people...!!! The burden is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo effing onerous that a Chinese staircase must be used.

A recently released Wikileaks cable provides a rare and detailed glimpse into the degree of stage managing involved when Mr. Hu makes domestic visits, usually with state-run news agencies in tow. The cable describes a great deal of secrecy over Mr. Hu’s identity, keeping local officials in the dark until the president himself arrives, as well as measures that include keeping the temperature of home cooking oil low so he won’t be scalded while helping locals prepare a meal.
This is a local visit. Not out of country. Great details were taken by the President's advance team. They made sure the locals were ignorant of Hu's arrival and all the way to how hot the cooking oil should be.
According to the PDF Chinese, it is absurd that there would be an advance team for US President wherever he travels. The proof of that absurdity is the absence of an agreement between the Americans and the Chinese host.
That is the intellectual quality of this thread: Pathetic.
In fact, it would be the opposite. If our leader visit a host, we always follow and respect the host. That is part of our culture, to show respect of the host country. If we arrive late, we certainly don't expect all smiley face and expect everyone to bow. Sending an oversize entourage and acting like we own this foreign country. That is not our style. It is India, but not us. We expect to be treat the same as any other leader, big or small country. Make no difference. That the beauty of our easy going. LOL
Really...??? This spin is as good as a merry-go-round.

Members of Falun Gong said they wanted to publicly practice meditation and appeal to the President to stop the persecution of the cult's members in China.
However, the Interior Ministry banned the requested rallies, citing a "justified possibility that supporters of Falun Gong and nationals of PR China could clash".
Make no mistake about it. The Chinese Presidential Advance Team made it clear that Xi would be offended by the presence of the Falun Gong group. And the burden is upon the host to make the state visit comfortable.
The humble facade is as thin as toilet paper and as weak as the same tissue wet.

Mr. Xi won’t sample Starbucks products in Seattle, even at the Roastery, the company’s downtown temple to expensive coffees. Even though the Seattle police are being exceedingly obliging — shutting down parts of the city to traffic for the entire two days Mr. Xi is in town — a visit to the Roastery would be a security nightmare for Chinese officials anxious about protests.
So the American host were willing to make life uncomfortable for the average Americans in the interests of making Xi's visit comfortable. But for Obama's visit to China, using our own staircase is 'arrogant' and unreasonable.
Sending an oversize entourage...
Really...???

When President Xi Jinping’s plane touched down in Seattle for the start of his American trip, 22 Chinese journalists got out of the back door, all handpicked from state-run newspapers and CCTV, the main state broadcaster, for one of the most important assignments in Chinese media.
Twenty two reporters ? What is wrong with 3-4 or 5-6 ? But 22 ? Not oversized to you ?
