Bangladeshi secular publisher hacked to death

That was an old news, a mob in Nagaland lynched a man (happens to be a Muslim) accused of raping a girl, all the deaths of Muslims don't necessarily have a religious angle...but the way things are going; we will soon see headlines like "Muslim bike rider killed by a Hindu truck driver".
What was more worrying than the mob killing the person is RWs cheering the death and labeling him as Bangladeshi. The narrative was - Nagas had to take laws in hand after Bangladeshi illegal immigrant raped one of them, why msn is silent.

Once again, whataboutry is not a valid criticism, its just a way to silencing the critics, Anupam Kher indulges in the same.

By this logic, since there were innumerable occasions in past, one could have protested against something wrong, and you coundnt have protested against all and sundry for some reasons, so you are not allowed to protest against anything else in future!! This is an alternate version of let those who haven't committed a sin cast the first stone and let me repeat here - an way to silencing the critics!

Ad hominem is another favourite tool of silencing the critics by finding some flaw in his personal life or in extended family and thus his view become automatically void.

And im not talking about annonymous trolls here, but sm celebrities, govt leaning journalists like Kanchan or Gourav or Swapanda.

You are naive if you think all these hashtags and ganging up are not organized, and yes i believe congress has learned the sm game as well although they are catching up, aap has always been media savvy.

Whataboutry comes into question when the front-runners of the recent award-wapsi campaign have some political connection with the opposition parties, some even campaigned for the opposition parties during the last LS election, some campaigned against Modi, some even hold posts in opposition parties. The protesting individuals were protesting against Modi & BJP government before the LS election and they are continuing to do so after the election, it is their political stand for years...and their protest need not get more importance than what the political oppositions get in a functioning democracy.

Whataboutry also comes into question when we see pictures of the protesting eminent writers smilingly sticking their necks out to accept medals from someone like Jagdish Tytler, a man accused of leading the Shikh genocide on the ground in 1984. These are powerful pictures that are bound to raise eyebrows, and questions.

These protesters will calm down and everything will be back to normalcy after the final phase of voting in Bihar. Before the Delhi election it was Church attacks (that mostly were not communal in nature, but general criminal acts), now we don't hear much about that and Christians don't seems to be getting persecuted in the country, at least not anymore.

While the Dadri incident is really unfortunate, but communal (and caste based) clashes are rather regular affair in the most lawless state called UP, for example, a murder from another community happened in UP during the Durga Puja Visharjan. Now being the PM of all Indians, should he start issuing specific statements for every communal incident in the country? Wouldn't a statement like "A Muslim was killed over beef, and a Hindu was killed over Durga Puja Visharjan" etc. by the PM himself fuel the communal tension further? The number of communal clashes are in thousands every year in our country, it has been so, unfortunately. PM has given statements twice already for maintaining communal harmony.

However, it is true that the PM should take steps to control certain rabid motor mouths, certain sadhu and sadhwi to be specific, and apparently he is working on it, but BJP is not a family run party like the Congress and most other regional parties, he doesn't have absolute control over all the state units...a similar example would be CPM, where state CMs are/were not in absolute control of all affairs of the party, a PM is not the boss of CMs, but only the first among the equals in a federal state like India. There isn't any anti-minority steps taken by the central government so far, not anything I know of, but the rabid Hindutavadi elements in the party are a problem, but these elements were always like that...what is important is that they are not getting to formulate policies and dictate the government, remember that RSS has a "Swadeshi" agenda also, but Modi is pursuing the opposite path. Much of the current hyperbole is politics and media creation, but as per our media aren't we going to war against Pakistan and China every other day?

Not only you, but @Joe Shearer also thinks that the protesting individuals should be above any criticism, but why? That's actually against the very idea of freedom of speech and opinion.

And I am just going to lol about it. You have the freedom as long as you are not threat to the govt. The govt will shove first amendment in your *** and lock you up behind bars.

Does a name Snowden ring any bell?

so lemme go back the the point I was making...Indian liberals are having the best time in india, they can manipulate facts, speak against elected govt 24/7, defend terrorists on tv and still live to do it again.

You can''t do that in USA or in western europe.

You are perfect example of what is wrong with rw trolls. You think criticism of the govt is threat to the country and want anyone who is criticizing the govt should be hounded like snowden. You are no different than the bangladeshi jehadis, just for you supporting bjp is matter of faith and apostates need to be silenced at any cost.

And someone asked me in the first page why hinduvta trolls are equated with islamists!

You are so wrong on so many things but that's expected.

You are an perfect example of LF trolls. Equally, if not more dangerous in the long term. Constructive Criticism is always welcome...so lets not put words into my mouth.

if hinduvta trolls were capable of even doing 10% of what islamists do, indian muslims population would have been less then 1%, not 18%+.

Once again, usual tactics of picking up particular people and painting everyone in a broad brush! Is Narayanmurti also campaigned against Modi before election? Is Raghuram Rajan a congress stooge? Salman Rushdie must have been on Congressi payroll for years, Gulzar is off course a known congressi troll.

Not only you, but @Joe Shearer also thinks that the protesting individuals should be above any criticism, but why? That's actually against the very idea of freedom of speech and opinion.

You either didn't understand my post or choose to ignore it - let me quote it again -

I'm don't think anyone is above criticism, however I'm against the concentrated campaign to silence the critics by indulging in whataboutry, terming them anti-national and indulging in ad hominem attack!

I'm already branded as anti-national in this thread, in one of the other threads some guy called me a Bengali who's has usual religious bias and wondered why I didn't speak up against congress economic policies before 1990!!

Kind of proves my point!

That's very convenient to say a PM who's popularity is unparalleled in recent history, who had a clear mandate fist time in last two decades, who is projected as a strong man as opposed to meek Maunmohan Singh, can't reign in his own party members and union ministers.

The fact it's just age old good cop-bad cop game. BJP has simple and effective strategy - Grassroot leaders further polarise society with unbridled bigotry to it's gain, lackeys in media term them as "fringe elements", top leadership keep silence and stay above the muck.

Check the full speech of Raghuram Rajan, and the full interview in NDTV from where Narayanmurthy was quoted, or the full interview of Zubin Mehta. I can differentiate between valid argument and political campaign, but you also cannot pickup particular people as front to hide the politically motivated people who started this campaign to influence Bihar election. We have seen all this before.

All of these, all of these go both ways...I am sure you are not oblivious to this fact.

On the personal attacks, both sides in this forum brand each other as anti-nationals, adarsh liberals, chaddis, sickular/pseudo-secular, Hindutva nutjobs, etc. Nobody is a victim.

Once again, whataboutry is not a valid criticism, its just a way to silencing the critics, Anupam Kher indulges in the same.

Someone will say that 'ganging up' against the critics of the critics for raising some valid questions is a way to silencing them. You are only seeing it from your side.

Shouldn't this picture of a protesting writer raise some questions?

So people should target the 'fringe elements' and demand action from the PM if the person is from BJP, and also demand action from the respective state governments responsible for the law and order, the reasonable ones are doing just that. But the politically motivated protesters are more interested in running a political campaign and targeting the highly popular PM (as per your own words) for every act of crime anywhere by any worthless nobody, this essentially helping the main culprits to hide behind the shield of the popularity of an elected PM, and absolving the state governments from their responsibility.

You probably can but people like you are very rare. Rajan and Narayanmurti faced the same flak as others and grossly dismissed or ridiculed by the right wing.

When Anna Hajare started the campaign against Congress misrule and corruption, your argument is the same as the one Congress provided - that some people who are joining the movement are politically motivated. What is wrong if some are politically motivated, they have the right to have a political opinion, it's the merit of their argument, not their political leaning which should matter.

All of these, all of these go both ways...I am sure you are not oblivious to this fact.

You are correct, both sides brands each other in twitter or online forums. However we are talking about BJP spokespersons or cabinet ministers who use the same language of RW twitter trolls and ridicule and brand anyone who protests as anti-national. Their opinions matters because of their posts.

Someone will say that 'ganging up' against the critics of the critics for raising some valid questions is a way to silencing them. You are only seeing it from your side.

If someone is ganging up against Anupam Kher, it's just as wrong, however I don't see anyone of important using the whataboutry against Kher, most actually said Kher is entitled to his opinion.

Once again whataboutry is not valid question.

Shouldn't this picture of a protesting writer raise some questions?
The picture is revolting at it should raise question against the particular person's judgement, just don't use the same to as a tool against protesters.

Those are not fringe elements. Cabinet Ministers, MPs are not fringe. They are as mainstream as they can be. People are targeting the PM because of his culpable silence when so called "fringe" set the tone of Govt opinion on various matters.

Here let me quote again -

BJP has simple and effective strategy - Grassroot leaders further polarise society with unbridled bigotry to it's gain, lackeys in media term them as "fringe elements", top leadership keep silence and stay above the muck.
