Is this what Bengalis fought for their freedom twice? To essentially become a protectorate of Bharat Mata again?
Make of it what you will but here's a little observation :
- The British oppressed us as did the brahmin zamindars, we revolted and forced the Brits to split Bengal in 1905. We then closed our ranks to form the All India Muslim League in 1906 in Dhaka, consisting of mostly heavyweight Bengalis and a few non Bengalis (including Jinnah).
We sent a clear message to the whole Raj, we can't live with abusive brahmins, undoubtedly our struggle motivated others in the far reaches of the Raj to join the independence struggle.
Our efforts led to the expulsion of the Britishers and independence of our nations.
- West Pakistani top brass refused to hand over power to Mujeeb and some other things, I don't want to get into. What did we do ? We fought once again and set our lands free.
- Now India 'oppresses', disregards our Sovereignty and overall just behaves like a hulking menace.
We have done it twice before and we will do it again.
We will put an end to this constant pushing and prodding.
And If you thought 1905, 1952, 1965 and 1971 were the height of the bengali people's determination and sheer will power, then you are oh so wrong.
We are a patient people and If living under the thumbs of foreign oppressors has taught the bengali nation anything, is that we will outlast everyone no matter how high and mighty.
Patience.
