Bangladesh would like to be part of India's plan of becoming Atmanirbhar, says envoy Mohammad Imran

Aug 15, 2020

Bangladesh would also like to be a part of India's plan of becoming Atmanirbhar, said Bangladeshi High Commissioner to India Mohammad Imran here on Saturday.

"I attended the Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort, today morning. It was very encouraging listening to Prime Minister Modi. We look forward to having a much better relationship with India. We already have very good relations with India and it can be taken to a higher level," Bangladeshi envoy told ANI.

He further said that India and Bangladesh can complement each other with regard to becoming atmanirbhar (self-reliant).

"Be it at the personal level or at the national level, everyone should be atmanirbhar. As India will be 'Atmanirbhar', we also want to be a part of it. I think that if we both work together, we both can complement each other," Imran added.

While August 15 in India is celebrated as Independence Day, in Bangladesh it is regarded as a dark day as it was on this day that the founding father of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, along with his family were killed in 1975.

"With deep sorrow and grief, we remember him (Rahman) and pledge ourselves to carry on his ideas. He led us to independence and we have pledged to make our country a prosperous one," he added.

. . . . .
bureaucrats

There you have it.

To be frank, our government is on a diplomatic offensive to calm the Indians down.

In truth, we are drifting farther and farther away from the Indians.

A few kind words here and there, keeps Delhi off our backs while we go on with the good work, a day will come when we simply won't respond to them unless it's mutually beneficial to us.

Which is the way any diplomatic relations should be; mutually beneficial.

That is what is happening, behind the scenes, piece by piece.

You guys have some fucked up bureaucrats, with fucked up thinking to be quite honest.
Their era will soon pass, as already 30% freedom fighter quota ( Actually political quota ) from first class and second class job are now abolished. So I wish future bureaucrats will not be like them.

I hope so because the old freedom fighters thought isn’t strong for one having an independent policy. Being attached is one thing they go further than that.

Indians don’t realize even without their intervention a split was going to happen anyways. But Indians like at act as a used condom to be used over and over again.

With India's size and population, it can be cut off from world trade and survive unto itself.

Make your own Hajmola and Paan Ghutka Masala.

That is not our destiny.

Bangladesh is heavily connected and dependent on world trade.

India's atmanirbhar (self reliance) has no parallel or connection with Bangladesh. Just a salve to pacify Indian wounds.

And parroting atmanirbhar (self reliance) in India at every opportunity is a farce, as they are dependent on Chinese technology for power generation and imports for 90% of their defense, to quote only two relevant examples. They can't even make their own cellphones from scratch, like we do in Bangladesh.

I thought Bangladesh wanted to be an independent country. Didnt know it wanted to be India's bitch and what a bitch has it turned out to be. Quite unfortunate.

Is this how you speak at home with your family ?

Old habits, Die Hard.

Is this how you represent your country on an international forum ? :disagree:

Does the minister not realise the irony of being dependent on India for the idea and template for self-reliance?

He is Bangladesh's top envoy to India.

Diplomats will say whatever the host country wants to hear.

Holds no weight.

You of all people should know this.

Why not say: "India's self-reliance is a good thing". Indian would have been happy at the sycophancy and he wouldn't have looked a tool. Win-win. I'm just offering advice on diplomacy skills - I don't have any vested interests here.
