The successful participation of Bangladesh in the Kotfa 2018 is expected to create a momentum and encourage more Korean as well as foreign tourists to visit Bangladesh

Bangladesh is hoping to receive a boost in tourism after the country’s pavilion came out on top at a global travel expo in Korea.

The Bangladesh pavilion saw off 54 challengers from 34 countries to win the “Best Booth Operation Award” at the 33rd Korean World Travel Fair 2018 (Kotfa) in Seoul last week.

Commended for its “exceptional holistic presentation”, the Bangladesh Pavilion drew an estimated 500 Korean and foreign nationals during the four-day event, helping to create a network of tour operators and prospective visitors.

“The successful participation of Bangladesh in the Kotfa 2018 is expected to create a momentum and encourage more Korean as well as foreign tourists to visit Bangladesh,” the Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul said on Monday.

Abu Bakar Siddiqui, joint secretary of the Bangladesh Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, led a five-member Bangladesh delegation to the fair, which was inaugurated on June 14 by Kotfa Chairman Shin Jung Mok and the ambassadors of each participating country.

The visiting dignitaries “deeply appreciated the attractive decoration of the Bangladesh Pavilion”, after they were welcomed with traditional Bangladeshi handicrafts presented by the Bangladesh ambassador to Korea, Abida Islam.

Bangladesh has been regularly participating in Kotfa since 2012. On this occasion, the Kotfa authority presented a crest to the Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), which curated the winning pavilion in association with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul.

Bangladesh also participated in a cultural show on June 14 arranged by Kotfa at the auditorium of COEX Hall, where traditional dances and songs were performed to represent the country.

This is the spirit should also be applied within Bangladesh at welcoming tourists and making them comfortable visiting Bangladesh.Tourism is mostly about how you fascinatingly present your country and your culture to the outside world as well as how much hospitality culture developed in your country.A decent infrastructure will ad bonus to that. Our rich Bengali culture and tradition should be focused, need to telecast overseas tourism ad featuring our culture, tradition, ancient monuments and green landscape, need to strengthen tour operators. All the development works should take into consideration of tourism aspect. Seems like, things are slowly moving in a right direction.Currently under implementation Chattogram outer Ring Road project includes a 5 km long tourist zone where tourists can enjoy leisurely and recreational activities at the bank of Bay of Bengal.More power to such type of development projects.
