Bangladesh is getting ready to launch its second satellite "Bangabandhu Satellite-2" by 2023.

Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) signed an agreement with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) at its head office on Tuesday.

BSCL Managing Director Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury and PwC Global Space Practice Leader Luigi Scatteia signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

The Contract Signing Ceremony was titled 'Determining the Type and Functionalities of Next Satellite (s) (Bangladesh Satellite-2) of Bangladesh'.

Shahriar said the PWC would submit their recommendations within the next 90 days. "Then we will hand it over to the government," he said.

Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar took part in the ceremony virtually.

Why can't Bangladesh get the experience to build it's own satellites ? Why tf are the going to other nations for satellites lol ? It's almost like Bangladesh doesn't want to be self sufficient in making certain things.

And why does these bAstards keep naming every satellite Bangubandu when Bangubandu had nothing related to space.

In Russia you have Sputnik
In America you have Apollo
In China you have Shenzou
In India you have Gagayaan

In Bangladesh all you constantly get is Bangubandu

Bangladesh has started the process of this business not too long back. I guess these things happen incrementally. Next step would be probably to set up indigenous centre to spearhead this work.

Booming economy of Bangladesh should be the precursor to these ambitions. Self reliance in high end tech is the natural progression to economic well being.

True but Bangladesh talks more than it can do , I expected our own made satellites by 2023 but nooooo apparently Bangladesh has to go to another nation for everything.

Because Bangladesh does not have a good educational base. You need to have quality research facilities at the very beginning. Then Bangladesh is a country which heavily relies on RMG and remittance with no proper IT and engineering base which is another problem.

Is there effort to make a micro satellite in Bangladesh ?

Actually the Aerospace University in Bangladesh has plans to make satellites by 2022-2023 , don't know if they will do it since they just make random claims.

Yeah , Bangladesh talks big and then doesn't put the effort.

Hopefully , I think Bangladesh can take help from China or Ukraine to build it's own small to medium space launch vehicles.

A Nano Satellite was made by BRAC University Students and was launched into low earth orbit using a Japanese module in the Int'l Space Station in by March 2017. It was de-orbited in 2019.

There are plans to set up clean rooms and start fabrication of Geo-sensing satellites for agricultural and environmental study purposes.

There is a local space agency (SPARRSO) that has existed for a while but their work is (as typical for a developing country) mainly targeted at agricultural production and deciphering data from US Geo-Stationary satellites for earth-sensing and imaging purposes.
