Bangladesh to ease visa norms for Indians

This is a good step on part of Bangladesh.Hope India will reciprocate it soon.
India has eased the visa process several times in last few years. Some places places in India like some hospitals, markets and hotels accept Bangladeshi Taka as well.

.
I can foresee Indians lined up for Visa infront of Bangladesh embassies.

@Nilgiri @Śakra @ranjeet :agree::agree::agree:

It is pretty hillarious that OP and rest of BD crowd here think easing visa norms will somehow get more visitors from India or anywhere else.

Bangladesh actually has to invest and promote something....right now its impression (and large part of reality if you look at youtube videos) is one open sewer. Past a few extreme "shock LDC" backpackers and BD expats, no one is interested....and wont be for a very long time.

What is total tourist arrival in BD? Something like 10,000 or something in a year (with plenty of existing easy visas to large countries like China, EU, US, ASEAN etc). That is just pitiful.

It's much more than 10,000.

A total of 125,000 international tourists arrived in Bangladesh in 2015.

But I believe most of them are Indians.

.
1. I can show pictures of so called icons from Bangladesh wearing dhoti.
2. Believe me work permit for Bangladesh is the toughest visa in world.
3. Of 125000 tourists majority of them are Bangladeshis spread around the world. I have never been to a place where I haven't seen a Bangladeshi. Bengali tourist to Bangladesh, never heard of any. Maybe the Bangladeshis with Indian Adhar card.

This bit I will give to you.

Although things are changing slowly thanks to private sector investments in hotels and resorts, major tourist spots need massive infrastructural uplift (airports, roads, transportation, security, cleanliness, etc.) to have significant hike in tourist arrivals.

Biman also needs to get off its *** and start offering more direct flights to wealthy Western nations.

There is promise for sure.

Nah international tourists are defined by passport. Its mostly BD origin people in UK and US etc.

India total international tourist arrival is same definition and has somewhat similar phenomenon (many Indian origin, PIOs etc visiting the country)...but of course the scale of non-Indian origin visitors is also significant.

The 10,000 figure I remember being quoted from some BD magazine about the average yearly Indian visitors (tourist visa) per year on average. The numbers are difficult to come by.
