These wider and higher lanes highways are literally empty! Guessing your high debt that you service with over 50% of your national budget went to building these roads that has no utilisation at all! Exactly why are you proud of these roads that made your country debt ridden while your literacy rate is so low, child mortality rate is so high and behind almost every human sector? You HDI is barely in the middle category! Do you really think while all that is going on with your general populace, it's clever to boast about roads like these where people like you can have fun time driving your private cars while much more percentage of your populace get no education than your neighbours?

Think that you are still undecided, to love or hate the country, or hate to love, or love to hate...something in between, was actually replying to @Homo Sapiens regarding the cleanliness in Lahore w.r.t Dacca. That was not about just roads...though the first thing you observe in a city are the roads, the road cleanliness and discipline.

In higher education Pakistan is doing well actually there are 10 Pakistan universities in QS top 300 Asian ranking, Bangladesh has got 1 university in that ranking.

Many other things HDI has smaller differences except for the infant mortality, Pakistan rank is higher like in per capita income, literacy rate is higher for B'desh. Hope it hasn't got the same benchmark as India had...anyone who can scribble his name in India is considered as literate.

@Pluralist

It is wrong for a single city of 10 million to take 58% of the budget from a province of 100 million.
It seems like Pakistani elite are more interested in their own comforts and showing off than the welfare of the masses.
In contrast the government in BD is spending a lot of money developing infrastructure outside Dhaka. Yes there is the 40 billion US dollars that will give Dhaka world-class infrastructure as per RSTP 2016-2035, but this also includes infrastructure that will allow traffic to bypass Dhaka completely.

Right...that was a wrong priority and was an anomaly...shouldn't have to be like this. And this hasn't paid the PMLN now this policy has backfired actually, with south Punjab rebelling against the PMLN and S. Shariff.

NOBODY should own a luxury car or a villa in BD. We have to develop our economy first. I care about good healthcare not some corrupt c*nts riding "luxury" cars.

I sense Sour grapes here.

And yet Pakistan publishes 16000 Scientific articles a year compared to Your 4000? Our universities get ranked amongst the best in the world in Times and QS rankings. If you were so adamant about education you would atleast have a half decent university to boost.

Bravo.....praise to Punjabistan.

Aren't you annoyed enough? Call the mods and get me banned......I'm craving for one....

You guys brought this upon yourself. Constantly talking BS and bringing Pakistan into your conversations which have no merit. Next time your posters make a claim about how you are surpassing Pakistan back it up with some proof.

Actually I was trying to make a more deeper point.

Pakistani governments of all types seem to want to spend money on two things: 1 is defence and 2 is showcase projects.
You can argue that defence is justified for national security reasons but not the showcase projects. They behave like gulf rulers but do not have the oil and gas wealth.

So how this is good for Dacca and bad for Lahore, this will bring in more rural folks to get herded in the Dacca city already bursting at it seams.

Or maybe they have a different plan of action.

In BD everything goes through Dhaka due to massive size(14% of BD population) and the central location of the capital city.
Dhaka has enough importance to BD to justify this kind of spending, but even then it is NOT getting the same share of BD development budget that Lahore is getting.

Only this Sharif govt. big mega projects means bigger commissions and plunder...Earlier it wasn't like this.

Also have written Pakistan private sector actually drives the country Govt. is a pauper, doesn't gets enough money to make a decent budget.

Education, Housing, Health is mostly a private sector thing....some exceptions though. The reason that if govt. budget for education is a meager 2% of the GDP, the actual money spent is much higher if you take the private sector contribution in it....
