this would be an interesting development.....

firstly, Russian PM is coming to Dhaka is a message to everyone.... nuclear and defence deals would be particularly important.... but on another point, trade with Russia against Western blockade is also important....

secondly, its Medvedev, not Putin, who's coming.... (was Putin invited, or was it Medvedev?)

thirdly, timing of the visit is second half of the year.... by that time, some very important things can happen...
I would also keep an eye on the developments in Syria.... Bangladesh has got the chair in OPCW this year.... taking effect in May 2017..... with more chemical attacks taking place in Syria this year, Bangladesh's role in OPCW would be critical.... US would also keep an eye on that, as during the previous chemical attacks under Barack Obama, the US remained silent...

I doubt trade between west and bd will be affected much. The west is currently too divided to take a stance thanks to trump and the rise of the political right. Plus russia signed a lot of deals and improving realtions with other countries as well(vietnam, malaysia). These countries are not facing much backlashes for being friendly towards russia.

As for OPCW, I think bangladesh will take a middle stance regarding chemical attacks in syrian war. There will be condemnation, but it will shrouded with ambiguity regarding who is responsible.

I hope you know why Bangladesh lobbied hard and won the seat, when it was supposed to go to India.... the chairmanship comes to Asia after every four years.... but India had to swallow that because Pakistan was there as a balance.... India had no other option to support Bangladesh.....

Really doubt the regional politics of south asia will affect bd's decision on the chem attacks in syria. Its a touchy subject, with world powers at opposing side. Bd will try to please everyone without pissing off anyone as it will be detrimental to our growth.

@ What Russia can give us ! Russia is a dead horse.It is like a Hat which has lost it shape because every one used it.
@ Russia neither have good armament nor have good economy.
@ For the just 8 to 9 decades who ever had a good relation with Russia got nothing.
@ We have seen the fate of Saddam who was a close ally with Russian since his rise of power. We have seen the capability of Scud Missiles and other Russian armament in both 1st & 2nd Gulf War.
@ However, you can have good/cute Russian cheap girl and enjoy with Vodka.
@ Russia is at least 60 to 80 years back of Western States.
