Featured Bangladesh Plans Aircraft Production In 2021

Countries with a far better economy and industrial infrastructure are literally shi*ting themselves to get any sort of indigenous aircraft production going and here we are talking about our own homegrown aircraft next year. I wish that was true but it’s only a wet dream .And I don’t like wet dreams.
Tbh I’d be happy if we could somehow manage to replicate and build something like the k-8w would be a move in the right direction , then we could maybe work with Turkey on the TFX

Well the Hongdu-Yakovlev CJ-7 is supposed to be the successor to the CJ-6 we already use. That is also a contender to the BAC aircraft assembly program IMHO.

This is essentially similar to the Yak-152, except (unlike the inline engine of the Yak) it uses the Vedeneyev M14X 9-cyl. air-cooled radial piston engine, 270 kW (360 hp) power. The Vedeneyev engine is essentially similar to (and a development of) the Ivchenko AI-14 engine, as China installs in the Nanchang CJ-6. The Chinese engine is 'inspired' by the Russian one.

How many of these propeller aircraft could Bangladesh realistically make in the next 5 years? Also is it to unrealistic to hope for a jet trainer, I mean they did cite significant involvement from other large nations/ companies

I am talking about capabilities that currently exist at BAC (or rather, lack thereof) and also that this is the first venture to assemble anything resembling an airplane locally.

It is unrealistic to hope for a jet trainer because we hardly have any capability to conduct periodic jet engine or turboprop overhauls EVEN, which both use jet engines. Forget integrating new jet engines in new aircraft.

Internal Combustion engines (as opposed to jets) are much simpler to work on, use much looser tolerances and use much more common tools for overhaul. IC engines expertise is also available much more widely. Rotary or inline IC engines are much more familiar to BAF mechanics.

MiG-29 jets and AN-32 turboprops have to be sent to the Ukraine for simple engine overhauls.

Sahib can come turn the screws to make you "ONE" example, but unless you have well-trained homegrown talent "pool" (not just one or two experts, who will go to Dubai or UK, the first chance they get), setting up a disciplined well-paid workforce with knowledgeable leadership, series production of jets is a non-starter. You need a lot of prerequisites to fall in place for that, and BAF/BAC has zero of those qualities.

RAW has been very successful in staving off any possible air superiority capability for Bangladesh, and they had the full cooperation of India-shills in BAL so far for this. Tofael Ahmed et al should get shot for this, but he's too old now, and he (as well as other India shills in BAL) have been kicked to the curb by Hasina during the last purge. Let these old seditious idiots crawl away and die. I have a strong suspicion that some of these "Muslims-in-name-only" leaders (and Chetona Morons) were RAW implants and closet-Hindus. A real Bangladeshi will be a proper Muslim (privately religious even) or Western-educated atheist. But not spending half the year in Kolkata as a Chetona idiot, hanging at ShantiNiketan or College Street.

I know enough people at BAF and so do other Bangladeshi posters here at PDF. I can assure you, BAC does NOT have the personnel with expertise or any capability to series produce jets. Delhi door ast.

Let them crawl first, then they can walk or run.

There is so much I wish we could reveal here. It is frustrating to see the thin bubbles we create for ourselves here.

I think doing assembling on Hurkus is very possible. The efforrt is indeed necessary to start an aerospace industry since Hasina is so serious on this industry that make her make aerospace university some years ago.

Due to that fact, of course, there should be some sort of aerospace industry to make all those aerospace university alumni get employed. Building MRO companies can also another way to absorb those aerospace engineers, although I assume Bangladesh at this level has already got at least one running MRO company.

I also have a question here that I hope you can answer. Why is the Bangladesh Airforce who announce the program ? As far as I know your aerospace program doesnt have anything to do with your Air Force.......or do you want to follow Pakistan step where their aerospace industry is own by their Air Force instead of under state owned enterprise ministry like happening in Indonesia and Turkey ??

Unfortunately entirely unrealistic. BAF is run by morons. Its leadership is very poor, has zero vision and competence.

Its utter nonsense and hot air that they will put together an indeginious trainer by next year.....please believe me they won't.....i doubt between the entire BAF leadership there is combined intelligence to even construct a paper plane.

If we were talking about the BN or BA then it would have another matter.

Here is the news one of the high ranking regime administration official proposed to send thousand official abroad for rice cooking training. Country that needs foreign training to learn how to cook local traditional rice, will make aircraft????

Anyone (other than resident Awami League cheer leaders in PDF) for a split second thought any REAL aircraft making will happen in current "Bangladesh", living in some fools paradise.

Any word on how the Burmese aerospace industry is holding up ?

Some people have serious problem with BAF and go bonkers if military miss a deadline. 🙄 BAF recovered and tackled Russia, Rohingya issue, budget and geopolitics quickly and went for 16 MRCA within three years which lot quicker than some other countries and now the only issue is COVID-19.

These were discussed numerous times that it's not that easy for BAF to select a fighter jet which will be operated for at least 30 years. You can't just expect an air force to switch to western jet from Russian-Chinese fighter overnight.

There are only three less problematic options left for BAF which are UK, France and China even though we heard govt is interested to buy MRCA from USA. No air force went through this much trouble to buy a single squadron of fighter jets i believe.

Even after seeing that BAF is on the final stage of MRCA procurement, some impatient guys are still suffering from serious "MRCA" trauma. Instead of thumping your chest about "MRCA" and insulting BAF's leadership on PDF every now and then how about you take charge of BAF and buy fighter jet on wholesale price in one year?

No one's going to let you manufacture spare parts for buying 16/32 fighter jets nor you will get assembly line for buying just four aircraft. Also it's foolish to compare American and Bangladeshi people in manufacturing aircraft. Not every Bangladeshi has garage in our house nor we have that kinda education-equipment-money and necessity to make aircraft in our backyard.

Think about where our country was 10 years ago before comparing BD with USA, India and Indonesia which are 100/50+ years ahead of us. Maybe we are behind those countries but at least we are taking initiatives to be self-sufficient. You are comparing BD with other countries and saying that it's not easy to manufacture aircraft at the same time.

Do you even listen to yourself? Further stop finding Indian/RAW involvement in everything like a paranoid person. Land is scarce in BD. Lalmonirhat already have an airstrip and under BAF control so it won't need to be built from scratch. Unless we have proper SAM and counter-artillery coverage nothing can be done about Indian artillery attack.

How's MRCA procurement relevant to building aircraft locally? One is for air superiority/defense and other for self-dependency. If Bangladesh can manufacture even a small UAV (which they kinda do actually) then what is your problem? BAF is trying to be self-dependent to reduce the cost since they started overhauling PT-6 and Bell-212 locally.

Now we have four MRO plants for our mainstay fighters, helicopters and trainers. These plants can be used for aircraft production too in future. In a video about 216 MRO plant an officer hoped that will build helicopter which is not impossible. So why do we need to stop progressing towards self-dependency just because MRCA procurement is getting delayed? Who said two project can't progress parallelly?

Another thing I noticed that people cry about trainers often. How many trainers did we actually buy? 16 Yak-130 AJT which was for future Russian MRCA (before situation got fucked up), ground attack role and to replace A-5. 9 K-8W were order to supplement the L-39Z fleet, now 7 more are coming to replace them. And now 24 basic trainers to supplement those obsolete PT-6 which we call “flying coffin”, “sixth generation stealth fighter” etc. So tell me how buying those trainers is wrong?

And what's wrong with manufacturing trainers? According to wiki BAF operates 50 PT-6, according to Defseca it’s 60+ but according to President’s speech in 2016, the 210 MRO plant for PT-6 overhauled 122 PT-6 trainer till then. So suppose we have requirement for 74 basic trainers minimum including the 24 trainers we are looking to buy currently.

Manufacturing and MRO them locally will obviously save up lot of money and time (Considering a KT-1 cost $7 million). It can open more job opportunities, provide more experienced personnel and increase possibilities to build different types of aircraft in future.

To do that I think BAC and 210 MRO plant is enough as it’s overhauling PT-6 for at least decades. They are also doing some assembly and parts manufacturing like MAF does for their PT-6 locally AFAIK. We need to do some changes, buy some necessary equipments and train our guys.

FYI Bangladesh doesn’t need to build every component of Nasimon or manufacture needle. We don’t need to build train first before making plane either or manufacture every components of aircraft. Also Bangladesh already set-up sub-sonic wind tunnels in BAFA, BMA, Jessore Air Base and MIST with assistance from Tecquipment, a UK based company .

I understand people’s frustration, anger over some issue but immaturely saying the same stuff every time makes you sound like nothing but an irritating idiot and retard. That officer is a VC of a Aviation University talking in to teachers, principal and at least 100 students of one of the best colleges in Dhaka. There were facts in those officers statement. You think they were telling BS in front all those people or when talking about Boeing-Airbus, UK based company?

Did Boeing-Airbus refute his statement? Did you forget about Saudi-French interest in our aviation sector? Did it even occur to you what those student would think about those officers if their statements doesn’t become reality within 2021-22? Watch the video carefully. VC clearly said that it might delay a bit due to COVID-19 but BAF MIGHT start working on aircraft production in 2021.

Based on what information you labeled such positive news as propaganda? If we can progress in shipbuilding, automobile industry why won’t we able to do the same in aviation/aerospace sector? Delay or not, if Allah and govt wills it, we will manufacture aircraft in our soil Insh-Allah!! Screw all these negative mindsets!!

Well the Hongdu-Yakovlev CJ-7 is supposed to be the successor to the CJ-6 we already use. That is also a contender to the BAC aircraft assembly program IMHO.

No one said anything about assembling anything. We are jumping to an conclusion too early without much info. Please don't post that ugly bird's photo, make me nauseous. Also i don't see any chance for CJ-7 or it's Russian variant as we are noticing they are interested to work with Western parties. I hope i am right.

And this channel has good reputation

DUP is shitty channel as well as all the Youtube channels reporting about military. Better stick to local, international defense websites, DGDP, ISPR and websites, social media profile of defense companies and MoD of different countries.

Otherwise keep your mouth shut and let BAF do their work. MRCA will come when it's time. We Bangladeshis have one serious problem. মুখে মুখে চাপার জোরেই সব কইরা ফেলতে পারি অন্যের সমালোচনা করার সময়, কাজের বেলায় ঠনঠন। And it’s most Bangladeshis addiction to criticize or give their ignorant/half-assed “X-part” opinion when they are not the professional or working on that project.

Oy-hoy music to my ear. 😋 I would love to see your embarrassed bald head on PDF. 😂 It's not like everyday we see one PDF member's face here. But unfortunately nobody talked about rolling out aircraft from production line in 2021 except commencing the project. So chill. But if you still say that you will do it even if they start that project in 2021 then i am very much interested. 😈 Is the bet still on?

You shiny bald head on PDF of course. 😉 😈

Bhai Apnar Jalamoyee boktrita dekhey khub-e udbuddho holam. Bangladesh Zindabad. :-)

Amakey Gali den, kintu tao zodi deshey kicchu ekta hoi.

Mattha Murano chhoto-khato byapar. Ami mind korina.

I am sure @DalalErMaNodi will invent several new dance numbers just for celebrating Bangladesh 'starting' aircraft program, even if it is an ultralight....ki bolen bhai? :-)

And some of us writing from overseas speak from actual aerospace knowledge and experience - in addition to keeping up with senior Bangladesh Air Force staff. Let's just ponder that - instead of vilifying us for having opinions.

We should all respect each other's opinions, instead of belittling them. Those are the general forum guidelines.

I am extremely sorry for being rude. I did try my best not to be. But it's pretty annoying to hear the same stuff again and again and again. And criticizing them doesn't actually help at all I was just pretty irritated when i was writing the main part and it is few days old. "দিব না, ঝগড়া করে লাভ কি" এইসব চিন্তা করেও "যাহ শালা!! যা থাকে কপালে" ভেবে দিয়ে দিলাম। Most importantly none of those were meant for you. At least five people are in that reply. Specially we have a cranky girl here. @DalalErMaNodi knows what i mean.

PS- I edited it. Does it still look rude/offensive anywhere? Give a shout.
