Bangladesh Per capita income now $1314

.
With a stabilising Pakistan and investments from China, Pakistan is sure to enjoy growth rates like BD soon.

:pakistan:
thanks for good wishes . It is my dream that in south Asia people would be prosperous (like Asean, EU etc )one day . Every region has shown growth collectively in the past and vice versa .

Bangladesh GDP and per capita income is rising very fast year on year. Think where we could be if not for so much political strife following independence. Many years were wasted which could have been used to develop earlier. Still, better late than never.

Yes a lot of time has been wasted but the important thing is that economic growth is on a relatively fast rate of around 6-7% a year now.

With the coming better infrastructure and political stability, BD can look forward to growth rates of 7-8% in the future.

^ Yes, I think we can achieve middle-income country status in some ways by even as early as 2020.

.
Whats impressive about Bangladeshi's is they're quiet achievers without gloating about it.. Congratulations again.. For a young country you guys are certainly going great guns both economically and socially

.
So what would Bangladesh GDP be should it rebase to the same year as India?

I think I was being a tad optimistic here but 2025 is plausible.

Firstly, Bangladesh GDP is around $200mn now and secondly, India's population is 1.5bn, 10 times that of Bangladesh's 150mn, so of course India will be a much bigger economy in total output. So we must look at GDP/income per capita to get a fairer assessment.

By the way, Mumbai is much more an economic and commercial hub of India than Dhaka is to Bangladesh, therefore it makes sense Mumbai will have a large portion of India's GDP concentrated there.

the reports takes GNI and converts to USD...No PPP adjustments are made.

This study defines a metropolitan area as an economic region including one or more cities and their surrounding areas, all linked by economic and commuting ties (see Appendix B). This year’s sample is comprised of the 300 largest metropolitan economies in the world for which industry trend data were available, based on the size of their economies in 2014 at purchasing power parity (PPP) rates.
