Hilsa is a tasty fish, I don't like as it's got too much bones but it taste great, the eggs are yum. I only eat few fish's, like Boal/Ghual, as it's easier long bones are very less. But hilsha is bare far the most tastiest, if you're a Bengali (vast majority love it) and know your fishes. Obviously the Non Bengalis who don't eat fish much won't know the difference especially Bengali south asian fishes.

And, Bangladeshi Hilsa are the best, amongst all regions, most tasty. Bangladeshi hilsha high in demand in India, the Indians can't get enough of it and deman more importing of BD hilshas.
