Bangladesh Navy Gets Two New C-13B Corvettes

But Egypt is receiving Su-35. Yet they are getting 1.3 billion dollar military aid per year from US. How Egypt is managing this?
Egypt is special case as they made peace with Jews.

Nah looks like they were also scolded by their Uncle Sam.

But i don't understand why US will mind about our fighters purchase from Russia? They know we can't afford their product and we don't have the infrastructures and support for any westerns fighters. We don't even purchase any major US arms from them. And they have good economic and other relation with us. This news will seriously piss concerned citizens. We gotta buy Russian or Chinese fighters by any means.

Seems like we have to go for F-16 at the end. US already urging to buy arms from them.
Not the worst thing in the world if that happens.

Probably they will sell some old version like they did to Indonesia.

As I said, Bangaldesh could certainly do worse.

24 refurbished Block 25 converted to essentially block 52 F-16 for about 750 million.

Still would prefer Gripen E if the US allows the engine export to BD.

Yep, upgraded F-16 Block 25s would be able to take on anything that MAF has.

Of course BD can buy even new F-16s!
It has a defence budget of 4 billion US dollars growing at 7-8% a year in real terms.Plenty of money in this budget for 2-3 squadrons of F-16s over the next 5 years.
The problem is one of will more than anything.

. . . .
U ppl are really building your Navy. I do wonder why Pakistan doesn't pays much attention to its Navy
thanks... you guys aren't doing bad either... just concentrate on subs more liek you guys are doing, than surface fleets... because india has already supassed that sphere

Army and navy growing in a decent speed. Seems like very soon BAF will lost it's right to stand in a same podium with army and navy.

When will BAF wake up and close the big gap in our defence posture? :undecided:
man at the end, it would be better to disband it... shift the pilots to army and navy... and give the navy the offensive platforms while the army... transports and such...

only Allah knws, vai...if Serniabat couldnt do any good then BAF is ....

Serniabat is a excellent guy but he can;t do jackshit if at the end of the day BD govt tries to bargain like they would bargain for eggplants in a bazaar

mate, i don;t intend to be rude but how can you be so enthusiastic and beating your drums all the time?
couldn't manage to place 8 pieces order let alone a decent number after 19 years and you expect them to buy new f16s? from what i heard from foreign ministers interviews, i reckon bd has a haggling problem... they try to haggle too much that the deal falls through... one should remember you can't expect airframes not more than a few months old to be cheap... especially if your requirements is only 8 and economy of scale can't compensate to provide you with an effective deal...

U ppl have ISPR too?
good morning, yes

Seriously where did you see two more AShM in Chinese variant? Provide some proof. Only Algerian variant have four AShM. And PLAN also have some C-13B without ASW capability. @LKJ86 can you help? And i already said Durjoy and Durgom class LPC's will patrol with these ships. Read my previous thread again. Those have Anti Surface and Sub-surface capability. Durgom class was built to cover ASW role which our C-13B lacks. Another three are also under construction if the news is correct.
Type 056 does have the ASW capability.

And Type 056A has improved its ASW capability especially with a towed sonar.

We are buying 8 subs. But all 70s and 90Bs are going to retire soon

90b are not retiring anytime soon, are they?

Even then 8 subs is a lot of firepower, I don't see Indian navy getting into your sea territory without being torpedoed by these underwater hunters.

But for this, a sonar system is required to detect the subs first. The BD corvettes don't have sonar I think

I am displeased by the fact that the C-13B totally lacks any anti submarine. This to me seems really shortsighted. I understand that they will only be used for surface combat but having no anti-sub capability to even defend itself seems really foolish.

Even the first 2 durjoy class LPCs, which are mostly geared for surface operations, are equipped with 2x6-tube EDS-25A 250 mm ASW rocket launcher. The weapon design is kinda old as its based off RBU 1200. but at least it has self defense capability against subs.

IMO, the C-13B should at least add some ASW launchers in the future. It has a greater range endurance and firepower than our LPCs. They should be equipped ASW to defend itself or fend off submarines.

I know what you mean bro.

However I do not think it will be that much of an issue as both the Durjoy class, Ming(+ future SSK) and also the next-gen frigates can provide ASW warfare capabilities. Let us not forget the helicopters flying off ships and also the Dornier MPA aircraft can also detect and hunt subs.

Out of all the services, I think the Navy are led by the best men and I trust their judgement.

Type 056/A is the very low-cost corvette in PLAN, and China plans to build about 64 ones.

I don't understand why Bangladeshi Navy still chooses to give up its ASW capability.

It has not - Durjoy class is in service now and 8 are planned.

First 2 were built in China and were designed for surface warfare. Next two were built in BD and have both sonar and torpedoes to deal with submarines. Further 4 to be built in BD will be the anti-sub variants.

These LPCs have a range of 3,700km and endurance of 15 days. The Type-056 that BD has in contrast has very similar range and endurance.

Remember that the Type-056 will always operate as part of a fleet in any high-threat scenario, and so will have the Ulsan class frigate for additional air-defence and surface warfare and the Durjoy class for anti-submarine defence.

Plz read my previous two thread. Why are you making me repeat the same thing and don't understand that Durjoy/ specially Durgom was built to play ASW role and ease C-13B's workload. The removal of ASW capability was mainly done due to the mission requirements of the shadhinota class. The area over which the shadhinota class operates is shallow and unsuitable for submarine warfare and if required specialized ships such as Durgom class will provide asw protection.

Dornier MPA aircraft can also detect and hunt subs.

No it can't. It lacks the sensors and armaments it require to do that. It's only equipped with AESA for maritime surveillance.

Bangladesh ordered first C-13 in 2012. When did the first Type-56A roll out? The ASW version only has towed sonar if i am not wrong and lacks bow/hull mounted sonar.
