Bangladesh ‘joins’ Riyadh-based anti-terrorism coalition

It really depends on the intent of winning the war. Now winning has a lot of flexible interpretations in different military circles. There lies the problem.

This intent is what is more important than any amount of money you pump in !
I agree. USA intention wasn't to defeat terrorism in Iraq & Afghanistan & now Syria. Everybody is busy engaging each other in a proxy war.
USA-Russia
Saudia-Iran
Pakistan-India
Israel-Iran

Etc etc

The world is seriously Fked now.

. . .
Its rather a diplomatic coalition to counter Iran.

BD will never send troops to fight anybody under this coalition.

Okay seems to be so but I am curious what kind of diplomatic moves you guys will be pulling off against Iran which till now wasn't possible in the absence of such pacts ?

. . .
good decision , i would be more happy if they wouldve addeded iraq , and other muslim nations too

.
Hmmm, it is an anti-terrorism coalition. Dont think it will have much combat capability, since the only countries that can fight wars and have experience is turkey and pakistan. Anyway in event of an real war in saudi, it is more likely tthat US and UK will jump into action.

For bangladesh its more like a gesture to show saudi arabia that they are allied with them. I cant actually imagine bangladesh fielding any men other than token deployments, like in the gulf war

Turkey and Pakistan are included in the coalition.

I'm guessing the government (and the military) is expecting a role similar to the peacekeeping missions...

Yea thats what i meant, pakistan and turkey are the only ones in the coalition capable of waging and sustaining a war.

. .
Bangladesh wants to side with KSA and GCC for economic and financial reasons. In this coalition they will be less active than a frog in hibernation.

.
Good with your Arab friends.

Well, the actual purpose of this coalition is still not clear. As far as the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Iran is concerned, Bangladesh has previously supported Iran's stance of it's nuclear program being for peaceful purposes. Besides, Persian culture and literature has a large presence in Bangladesh.
