Bangladesh begins construction of two large warships

.
I thought Durjoy already has CIWS? Or it is being implemented at later date?

List of ships of the Bangladesh Navy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

says: Armed with 4x C-704 AShM, 1 x 76mm gun, 2 Type 730 CIWS .Two more ships under constraction at Khulna Shipyard. Six units will be built in Bangladesh's Khulna Shipyard (KSY).

So maybe this is the CIWS to eventually come?

That is not correct. AK730 is too large, almost the size of the Kashtan system. The smaller CIWS AK630 may be fitted at some point....this is just a small 650 ton LPC.

According to: DEFENSE STUDIES: Type 730 : China's CIWS

It weighs around 8 tons, which is lighter than a AK630 which is around 9 tons.

Kashtan is a dual gun beast, its going to be twice the weight or so of Type 730.

EDIT: NVM I think we are talking about the AK-306 630 derivative...which is around 1 ton for light craft. Makes sense.

Comprehension problem??Let me help.

These ships are for navy,so it's a warship.Cutter is something which meant to serve the coast guard.
And 675 tons is large enough for it's role.

Don't try to demean others. It only looks like you are just butt hurt.
And so, If you have low IQ,then don't come here.
End of discussion.
At 650 tons it's pretty much a FAC..not really a large warship.

It's just a bit bigger than the Azmat Class. But the Azmat class is better spec'd and packs a much better punch.

The Interesting thing is that you could mount the AK630 on the roof amidships a la the Azmat class but you can't do that with the physically larger AK730 - there could be center of gravity issues. Look at how they mounted the AK630 on the Azmat class about six/seven posts back. Space is really tight on these FACs/mini corvettes.

Bingo!

What ship is that picture? It looks like it is the same variant (306) I was mentioning since it looks to be air cooled not water cooled.

But in the previous pics, Azmat seems to be having the full 630 since the multi barrel looks to be water jacketed (round contour).

Anyways lets see what system Bangladesh opts for.

Most probably they will incorporate a pair of AK-306 630.Once I read in a Chinese forum that the Chinese derivative of AK-630 is lighter than the original Russian one.But they are not installed on the ships right now.BUT the fire control radar is already in place.
@Bilal9 has a good point.Type 730 will just eat up space. And considering the original design placed the CIWS on the roof amid ship.

Sorry but the current Durjoy class ships do not mount a CIWS, not a AK630 or Chinese variant thereof, not a Type 730, not anything else. As for the fire control radar for a CIWS already being in place: there is a Chinese FC radar for the 76mm and if that system is similar to the Russian MR-123, this might also control a pair of cannon like the AK630. There is not however a dedicated FC radar for a CIWS currently installed.

It carries 2 twin 25mm Chinese cannon, which are common on PLA Army patrol boats. These are manually aimed (though probably te gunner gets cues from the search radar)

Can such systems (CIWS + FCR) be retrofitted at some point in future?

.
Not really
Our frigates on the other hand are comparable to destroyers of some countries

Even our patrol vessels are now coming with around 2500 displacement....with correct weaponry u can call it a corvette or even a frigate
Your P17 Shivalik class FRIGATE is comparable in size the the latest European FRIGATES e.g. F124, LCF, F100. Horizon class is already getting a bit larger, comparable to P15A. Type 45 (UK) is significantly larger and called destroyer.

Your 'patrol vessels' of around 2500 tons are in fact light frigates (P28), comparable in size to Jiang Wei II and F22P and Milgem/Ada class. Your Kuhkri and Khora classes significantly smaller and called corvettes

DHAKA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua)-- The construction work of two large patrol craft (LPC), the biggest warship construction project, began on Sunday in Bangladesh's western Khulna Shipyard.

Inaugurating the project, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the keel of the two patrol craft and expressed her confidece that Khulna Shipyard would be capable of exporting developed and modern warships in future.

"Khulna Shipyard is now constructing and repairing big and small quality warships for Bangladesh Navy along with building large and medium oceangoing ships. I believe that it would be able to attain the ability of exporting developed and modern battle ships in future," she said.

Bangladesh has started utilizing the golden opportunity to tap the growing demand of constructing ships in global market as many countries are now showing their interest in Khulna Shipyard and communicating with it, the prime minister added.

Chief of Naval Staff and Chairman of Board of Directors of Khulna Shipyard Vice-Admiral Farid Habib and Managing Director of Khulna Shipyard Commodore M Khurshid Malik were present at the ceremony.
What weapons will these ships have ?

The current twin cannons appear to have a base similar (perhaps even common) to that of the Chinese AK630 variant, so refitting that would seem an option. I would expect one would have to add at least one electro-optical fire control channel. Compare Type 022. Post #51 above shows the basic ring-sight for the AK630, which is the minimal FC option.

The underdeck requirement is very little

It could also be solve by an ondeck housing (see IN Khukri and Kora classes)

PICTURES show that CONTRARY to the Wiki, they mount 2x twin 25mm cannon rather than 2x single 20mm Oerlikons
