Own Correspondent, Sukhbar.com: Bangladesh has surpassed Vietnam in the export of readymade garments in the world market. In the first seven months of this year, Bangladesh's exports exceeded Vietnam's by 200 million. Entrepreneurs hope that Bangladesh's garment exports will be ahead of Vietnam by the end of this year.
After the corona patient was identified in the country in March last year, the garment factory stopped production for a total of 85 days due to several lockdowns. In this opportunity, Vietnam is ahead of Bangladesh in garment exports. According to the World Trade Organization (WTO) review report, Bangladesh lost its status as the second largest garment exporter to Vietnam. In 2020, Vietnam exported more than কোটি 1 billion worth of garments from Bangladesh.
In that year, the amount of garment exports of Bangladesh was two thousand six hundred million dollars. Vietnam's amount was two thousand nine hundred million dollars.
According to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Trade Promotion Council of Vietnam (VietTrade), Bangladesh's garment exports to the world market in the seven months from January to July this year amounted to হাজার 1.7 billion. At the same time, the total export of Vietnam was one thousand six million dollars.
However, Bangladesh is not the second largest exporter of readymade garments even though it exports more than its main rival Vietnam. The WTO member publishes data on the annual position of different countries in the trade review of all countries. From that calculation, the position of Bangladesh can be understood.
When asked, BGMEA vice-president Shahidullah Azim said the WTO report would be in Bangladesh's favor at the end of the current calendar year. By the end of the year, Bangladesh will have exported at least 500 million more than Vietnam. His argument is, lots of export orders in the hands of entrepreneurs.
As a result of the reform initiatives under the auspices of the Two Buyers Alliance Accord and the Alliance, the industrial environment in Bangladesh's garment sector is now internationally recognized. Shahidullah Azim said the country's garment factories were closed due to repeated lockdowns in Corona last year. Vietnam did unilateral trade at that time.
