. . . .
Actually Bangladesh has given the contract to Franco-Italian aerospace manufacturer (Thales Alenia Space) to build and launch the satellite for Bangladesh.

Still a good beginning for Bangladesh, All the best!

.
Bangladesh has designed it? or its developed by others and purchased by bangladesh.

No, BRTC were involved in the initial framing of the user requirement stage and BUET people are in France working with Thales in the design stage. A number of BRTC staff are in France now being trained, apart from this not much more.

We don,t have the capacity to design and develop a satellite on our own and won't have that capacity for at least a decade.

. . . . .
Oh I thought they were developing it themselves. Okay then

Even if they were able to create a clean room assembly facility somewhere in their country (a challenge by itself if you know what I mean)...staff it with trained sat techs (who I can tell you right now wont be from BD)....how would making just 1 satellite suddenly make them jump ahead of India which has created dozens already and is making dozens currently and will make even more in future?

Pakistan has much greater chance of doing it compared to BD given your science output is 3 times higher than theirs.

50 percent work of country's first satellite ‘Bangabandhu-I’ has been completed, State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim said
Tarana Halim said: “So far 83 percent engineering works of the Bangabandhu-I have been completed while progress of antenna manufacture is 56 percent and works of communication and service modules reported 65 percent development.”

The state minister disclosed the development at a press briefing about the satellite and optical fiber network of BTCL at BTCL Gulshan-1 Exchange Office on Friday, reports BSS.

Referring to the completion of satellite system requirement review (SRR) preliminary design review (PDR), she said: “We would start the commercial operation of the satellite in March 2018 after launching it to the space on December 16 next year.”

If the current pace of work is continued, manufacture of the satellite would be completed in November 2017, said the state minister.

She said: “The satellite would be launched using vehicle -SpaceX and Falcon 9 -of United States from the Cape Carnival Launch Pad.”

She said that necessary examination and exercise, especially integration of Falcon-9 for launching “Bangabandhu-I” would be conducted before one month of launch at the SpaceX.

The constructing firm ‘Thales Alenia Space of France’ would be handed over the satellite to the Cape Carnival after testing and review, the minister informed.

The Primary ground station of the satellite is constructing in BTCL Staff College compound in Gazipur while the secondary one is at Betbunia in Rangamati.

Bhai I think you may have meant BTRC (Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission)?

BRTC is Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation.

On point.....
