Balochistan shuts down against accession to Pakistan

QUETTA: A strike was observed in parts of Balochistan on Tuesday against accession of the province to Pakistan on March 27, 1948.

The strike that had been called by the Baloch National Front (BNF) completely paralysed business and trade activities in parts of the province. The flow of traffic on National and RCD highways was affected. Passenger buses could not leave for Sindh and Punjab from Quetta and traffic in interior Balochistan also came to a halt. Baloch nationalist parties and the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) backed the strike. A partial strike was also observed in Quetta, where areas like Saryab, Berwary, New Saryab, Joint Road and other parts of the city remained closed. All educational institutions in Quetta, Mastung, Kalat, Naushki, Kharan, Panjgur, Washuk, Turbat, Mand, Hub, Sibi, Kacchi, Nasirabad, Jaffarabad, Khuzdar and other townships remained closed.

Most of the business centres, shops, markets and other commercial establishments in Baloch-dominated districts remained closed for the day.

Streets and roads wore a deserted look with very thin traffic on the roads. Attendance in government offices remained very low.

Stringent security measures were in place with deployment of security forces, Balochistan Levies and police in order to thwart any untoward incident during the strike. muhammad zafar

Independence, however, took place on 14th August 1947

Yet, they'd wait almost an year

This is a bit funny, if you ask me

Baloch people says that they were forced out of their free will to join pakistan by pak army.

And their struggle till date and local supports tells the truth about their freedom struggle till date.

One can't blame one odd tribe or organization for it its the whole people who are supporting it.

So you have interviewed every person there?

Have you left no stone unturned?

Did you ask everyone?

If not, this claim is ridiculous.

And if that's the truth about 1947, why'd they wait an year?

.
Will the Pakistani state let this strike happen? if they do what sort of message will it send out.

Read the news its from pakistani news media and it says the shut down is completely successful, it shows people's support for it.

And as for interviewing every person have you done it in Kashmir??? In Kashmir people makes huge lines for recruitment in army still you believe otherwise.

Apply same yardsticks for Baluchistan.
