Balochistan is rugged and dry and scarcely populated. Insurgents here choose remote far areas in contrast to ttp that operated in populated areas. In such remote areas weapon might be easy to obtain as border is porous but how do insurgents maintain their logistics. Two basic needs are water and food which are hard to store and need often accumulation. How does insurgents gain these two resources and can this weakness be exploited?

There are very few areas of Baluchistan where you can find natural drinkable water reservoirs and tandoors needed to be accessed on daily basis. As i mentioned earlier these insurgents are not operating in villages rather far away remote mountains and are using geography to their advantage. They live in mountains and target Security forces using very long range weapons. They are using the vastness of balochistan to their own advantage so why cant state do the same?
The weakest link in the terrain is the supply lines of food and water as its dry and arid. Weapons are easy to obtain but food and water supplies are required on daily and weekly basis by monitoring food and water, hurdles can be created for these insurgents.

French commander in Algeria anticipated an attack by monitoring the food supply to rebels.

An interesting read on the arms used by baloch insurgents They are certainly modernizing their inventory.

As A Native I Can Tell You That The Borders Of Balochistan Are Quite Porous There Is A Flourishing Underground Economy Based On"Free Trade"(a.k.a Smuggling). It's Easy To Move From Balochsitan To Oman Dubai Iran And Afghanistan.

So Establishing Supply Lines Are Not Much of A Problem

So how does state can use geography to its own advantage? For food and water they dont need to cross the border they can get it from locals and this is where they can be monitored. Is it possible?
I mean there must be something that we can do to use geography for our own advantage.

Getting The Locals On Their Side.Baloch Society Is Tribal and Old Feuds Die Hard And There Will Always Be Someone Willing To Ally With The State(For Example When BLA Assassinated The Chief of Qalamdrani Tribe The Entire Tribe Rose Up Against Them On Side of Pakistan)

Another Method Is The Use of Drones For Surveillance
