Bajrang Dal's warning to Arundhati Roy

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) affiliate Bajrang Dal has said it will do to writer Arundhati Roy what it has already done to painter Maqbool Fida Husain — teach her a lesson.

The warning was given by Delhi Bajrang Dal chief Vinod Bansal at a meeting in South Delhi on Wednesday to celebrate the accession of Kashmir to India. Mr. Bansal advised Ms. Roy “not to adopt the path of M. F. Husain misinterpreting the right to freedom of expression…our country has already taught a lesson to Mr. Husain…”

And as if in unison, the Bharatiya Janata Party's women's wing, in a statement said, Ms. Roy had time and again “tested the tolerance of our democracy” and “this time” — when she shared a platform with Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani — “she crossed all boundaries” with her views “bordering on treason.”

The right to freedom of speech and expression was not a blank cheque, said Smriti Irani, president of the women's wing.

The Bajrang Dal made it plain that it had hounded Mr. Husain out of the country by filing hundreds of first information reports against him all over the country and could do the same to Ms. Roy.

Though it sounds hawkish I guess people like AR needs some punishment ... i am being an anti-bajrang dal individual , would like to see our government taking the job of punishing these publicity-mongers ....as someone correctly pointed out that there is big money involved in giving lectures in foreign universities....and being anti-everything makes it easier for these bunch of people to cash in this lucrative lecture-deals .... get lost from India...

Leave his remarks , How can you say western democracy is the ideal democracy in world. We agree west has more health and wealth , But it doesn't mean every thing is ideal .Our democracy is suitable for our need , not yours.

PPl like this lady need only one thing - that is to be ignored.

India has weathered much more than this and thanx to the deep rooted democracy while a person has all the right to say his / her mind there is only one way to make a change - through elections.

This is something these attention seekers like Gilani & Roy shall never do. In any case is it not evident that this & other actions on the LC are a mere prelude to the visit of the US Pres ? We should expect some more.

Just ignore them. They are only as much heroes as the media makes them to be . Reactions is what they seek and sustains them.
