Featured BAF to get high-performance fighter planes: PM

Now I wonder what Saiful Azam would have been able to do in a mig 21 given hawker hunters made him a flying ace which is an inferior fighter compared to mirage 3
Saiful Azam was a great pilot.
He loyally served Pakistan downing an Indian Air Force Folland Gnat.
One of the finest ! We salute him.
Questions:
Saiful Azam was a high scoring graduate of the USAF Top Gun school. What is the standard of BAF pilots today in air to air combat? Have there been similar Top Gun graduates from the BAF?

Have there been any air intrusions into Bangladesh Air Space from hostile air forces?
How does Bangladesh handle them?
Does Bangladesh train foreign pilots in its air force?

. .
What's with all this interest in Bangladesh?

If you want a secular atheist Pakistan, you should be giving two sh#ts about little irrelevant Bangladesh as it has next to nothing to do with you.
Agree it has nothing to do with this thread.
The conversation progressed because Bangladesh Air Force chose to invest in fighter jets instead of amphibious helicopters like Sea Kings which would help immensely in the floods that have ravaged Bangladesh. With a critical shortage of helicopters Bangladesh requested the help of US Navy helicopters during the floods in 1998. As a price the USA made Bangladesh sign the Status of Forces agreement,
I think the agreement was expanded in 2002.

Get more amphibious helicopters . STOL aircraft, and seaplanes. These will help in floods and submersion of the land mass.

Why is Bangladesh relevant?

It is likely that in Pakistan we may be facing an Indian Bangladeshi military coalition in the next war.
Facing the BAF as a junior partner on our Southern Sindh front is a possibility. But that has been discussed elsewhere on this forum.

Our Missile Command has the co-ordinates of Dhaka in their targeting computers ...just in case we go under.
Instead of fighter jets, Bangladesh would be wise to invest in a BMD program.

Typhoon will be just too costly. They can go for such 35. Even I would recommend Gripen.
Suryaji,
Don't you think that as a coalition partner against Pakistan, the BAF could do with some more Su 30s , or Mirage 2000s seconded from the Indian Air Force. These are good planes, expertly maintained by the IAF , and as India upgrades to Rafales these could be seconded to the BAF free of cost. It would be a shame to send the Jaguars and Mirages into the crusher.
What is more, India would be denying the Chinese a market and foothold into the BAF?
BAF and IAF are "iron brothers" bound by a Mutual Defense Treaty.
Bangladesh could use the money saved to buy seaplanes, amphibious helicopters, STOL aircraft as well as surface effect Hovercraft. These are badly needed for rescue and relief during floods.

That's true but BD PM said that she will buy high performance plane for BD. So I think that she may go for any modern plane.

Yes, he also wanted to join 1971 war but intelligence put him in house arrest.
bangladesh does send its pilots to train in turkey, UK and US

Better support for the Typhoon, more in operation, better economies of scale etc. The Typhoon is ahead.
As for the Sukhoi the Bengalis don’t have much in terms of Russians weapons.

Also general comment to all Concentrate on the topic please. I’ve already seen off-topic stuff.

Interesting.
.
Bangladesh so far does not fly any advanced US, or UK combat aircraft.
I assume the training in UK, US, and Turkey would be on transport planes ( C130Js), Helicopters

Yes. Besides that jet conversion is sometimes done on student exchange programs. Excercises on limited scale usually disaster relief. Officer cadets are mutually trained. Even with PAF although this is not talked about due to politics. Flight safety course 1st prize has been won consecutively by PAF officers in BAF academy

Must be Least Conceivable Aircraft, LCA Tejas.

The statement follows the reiteration of closer Bangladesh Indian cooperation in sectors of defense and trade.

I still feel ex IAF Mirage 2000s are the best choice.
The BD PM needs better advice from the Indian Air Force Air Attache in the Indian High Commission. Your ACM Bhadauria should pay Bangladesh a visit.
If Bangladesh is to really be a significant military coalition partner in the upcoming war it needs help and support from India to improve its air combat capabilities,
Otherwise, I am afraid it will be canon fodder for the PAF and PLAAF,

I see a new troll has arrived.

In the spirit of getting back to the actual topic of the thread:

At least Hasina is talking about it.

Give credit where credit is due, it was her government that bought the Mig-29s and the Ulsan in the late 90's.

I do hope though, its more than just some token toys and rather a substantial buy to actual attain capability.

But the attention to support and infrastructure is reassuring.

Something will SURELY come.

What it is will reveal what Bangladesh's priorities are.

What's interesting however, is the upgrade of the Mig-29s.

Perhaps indicating a substantial wait for new platforms.

Likely signaling a Western source.

But the fact that new Russian sourced munitions may be obtained like R-77 and Kh-31 don't really make sense longer term.

I can speak for Jordan and Iraq airforce where PAF pilots were employed. Idk if any PAF pilots served in Syrian airforce.
Google "Shahbaz over the Golan".
Sattar Alvi shot down IAF Mirage while flying Syrian Mig21 in 73.
Saif ul Azam shot down Mirage, Mystere and a Voutur flying Hunters from Jordan and Iraq in 67.

@Michael Corleone I am getting bad vibes of the government procuring just one squadron twin engine prestige jets and calling it a decade, like you had suggested earlier.
I hope we are wrong and few squadrons of single engine fighters (hopefully Gripens) follow by 2030.
I don't understand why would Bangla purchase dual engine jets, does not make sense at all.
