Washington : Today, December 6 is a tragic day for the cherished Indian nation It is the 28th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya by a crowd of criminal extremists who wanted to demolish the long held secular fabric of the Indian nation. Under the extremist BJP of Narendra Modi they further forced the Supreme Court to grant possession of the land on which Babri mosque existed to extremist Hindus to build a Hindu temple and gave no land for the mosque in the city of Ayodhya. This is the travesty of justice.
Today, Babri mosque continues to live in the hearts and minds of a majority of Indians of all religious faiths, especially Muslims as a universal symbol of a monstrous atrocity on the rule of law and the constitution of India.
Today, we again pledge ourselves (Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians) to the cherished ideals of a composite and secular India.
Today awful injustices similar to the Babri mosque demolition are being perpetrated on various communities in India. The forced passing of the CAA/ NRC legislation and the Farm Amendment bills are continuing to trample on the rights of all Indians and the many working class Indians.
Today, we pledge ourselves to continue the struggle to bring back a secular and composite society in India.
