Azerbaijan National Aerospace Agency (MAKA; Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Milli Aerokosmik Agentliyi), is a governmental body that coordinates all Azerbaijani space research programs with scientific and commercial goals. It was established in 1992 in place of the Kaspiy scientific research center of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and currently is headed by Alchin Shirinzade. The programme has included a sequence of satellite missions, both national ones and in cooperation with other nations.

In 2006, the agency transferred to Ministry of Defence Industry of Azerbaijan. In 2009, Azerbaijani space industry boosted as new agency set up under the state program for development of space industry after Ilham Aliyev's approval. As part of the program, by 2013 it is planned to make proposals for the in-country assembly and production of VSAT (Very Small Aperture satellite Terminal). A small earth station for satellite transmission that handles up to 56 kbit/s of digital transmission. VSATs that handle the T1 data rate (up to 1.544 Mbit/s) are called "TSATs. and parts of other terminal stations, satellite receivers of different types and functions (internet, direct TV, GPS, etc.) in order to create the space industry.

On 7th February 2013, MAKA launched its first telecommunications satellite Azerspace-1 into orbit on February 7, 2013 from Kourou in French Guiana at orbital positions 46° east.

Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 2

Trend:
Within the strategic cooperation framework between Azerbaijan and France in the space industry, “Azercosmos” OJC, national satellite operator of Azerbaijan, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Airbus Defence and Space to take over the rights to operate and commercialize the SPOT 7 high resolution (1.5m imagery products) optical Earth observation satellite, which was successfully launched on June 30, 2014 and to be renamed as Azersky.

The long term strategic cooperation between two parties also includes joint operations of Azersky of Azercosmos and the SPOT 6 high resolution (1.5m imagery products) optical Earth observation satellite of Airbus Defence and Space in a constellation to provide superior service. Moreover, the ground segment to be constructed will allow Azercosmos to access images acquired from Pléiades 1A and 1B, very high resolution (0.5m imagery products) optical Earth observation satellites commercialized by Airbus Defence and Space. This satellite constellation opens up opportunities for many applications, providing the latest images within an unprecedented time frame. The combined acquisition capacity of Azersky and SPOT 6 is equal to six million square kilometres per day – an area ten times the size of France. This means that every day, every point on the globe can be viewed in high-resolution by the Azersky and SPOT 6 satellites.

Azersky was successfully launched on June 30, 2014 on a PSLV Indian launcher and was designed to survive harmful space conditions for at least 12 years. Azersky has a broad range of applications including but not limited to defence and security, emergency response, exploration of natural resources, maritime surveillance, sea faring, environmental protection, urban planning, cartography, agriculture, and tourism. During the next 1.5 years, more than 25 Azerbaijani professionals will be trained in France on optical satellite operations, product development, sales, and marketing of Geo-Information services. This agreement also marks Azercosmos’ entry into the commercial business of Earth observation services, including Geo-Information services. This will strengthen Azerbaijan’s position among the limited number of countries rendering satellite services.

Rashad Nabiyev, Azercosmos CEO, noted: “This agreement is an important step taken by Azercosmos to diversify our satellite services and bring additional value into the economy of Azerbaijan; and we are glad that Airbus Defence and Space is with us for this challenging journey.”

Evert Dudok, Head of Communications, Intelligence and Security (CIS) Business Line at Airbus Defence and Space, said: “It is a great success to have such an agreement with Azercosmos, in a region offering a high potential for satellite imagery and geo-information applications. This cooperation will allow a business and operational model which is brand new and very innovative for us.”

Azercosmos is the premier satellite operator in the Caucasus. Azerspace-1, the telecommunication satellite operated by Azercosmos, provides highly-reliable broadband and broadcast solutions to its customers in Europe, Africa, Middle East, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. The satellite, to operate in orbit for at least 15 years, was launched in February 2013 and is equipped with 36 transponders: 24 in C-band and 12 in Ku-band at 46° East longitude. Strategic development plans of the company include launch of the second telecommunications satellite and establishment of commercial business of Earth observation services in upcoming years.

Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 5

By Huseyn Veliyev – Trend:

The Airbus Defence and Space, a division of Airbus Group responsible for defense and aerospace products and services, revealed the photos and videos, which show the principle of operation of the low-orbit satellite SPOT 7.

The satellite, dubbed Azersky, was handed over to Azerbaijan’s control on the basis of an agreement inked Dec. 2 at the Bakutel-2014 exhibition by Azercosmos, an Azerbaijani state-run company, and the Airbus Defence and Space.

The spacecraft was launched in June 2014 as part of the strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and France in the space industry.

The Azersky satellite, along with its predecessor, SPOT 6, will be used jointly with Airbus Defence and Space.

Both satellites are capable of daily surveying an area of six million square kilometers on the Earth surface, or 10 times the size of France.

The resolution of the images taken will be 1.5 meters.

it's a great news really i didn't thoght azerbijan being capeable of this but now ... i just can say wow
Bro, Azərbaycan is an ex soviet country which had a big role in USSR scientific and military achievements. Tesar bomb, have you heard about it? Just look at nobel prize, fields medal, ... that we got. Azerbaijan can do much more, if we had more population and funding.

Well, Azerbaijan is about 9.5 millions. Sweden is also 10 millions but is more advanced than all ME combined. Israel is also a 8.5 millions and is military stronger than rest of ME ;) smaller countries can be really successful, but it is more difficult for them.

That is true ME has always lacked behind the industrial revolution. But I think it is not a fair comparison to compare Israel to its Arab neighbors. Israel gets billions of free aid from the US and also tech transfer.

You are right bro. Such a waste that the riches of the Mid East fell in the hands of some dessert tent dwellers.

It is hard for Russia to compete against western imperialist marketing strategy. Soviet leaders were lackeys of western powers in secret. Communism is a western creation to force peasants in eastern countries into forced cheap laborwork.

Russia is not a souvereign power, it never was. but just a bogeyman for western interests. Today china is this.

I think CIA can assasinate Russian leaders (all world leaders) at any time they want. CIA has much more power than you can imagine. They are descendants of first luciferians in the world.

Luciferianism is hidden in the christian faith. In fact christian faith is Luciferianism. They pray to satan when they call Jesus "the Lord of the World". Only Satan calls himself Lord of the World.

Only Satan is beeing called a Lord in old books.

hláford (Lord) is old english and means ward/satan.

England and its monarchy is a german tribe called "Engelland" Engelland means Angellands in german language.

They are the first satanists of europe. they designed europe and all two world wars.

Look at the fact that USA and England are the only two nations who where never conquered. British monarchy created USA on purpose with a civil war in 1776.

Adam weißhaupt is just a synonym. that was not a real person, wikipedia is lying. Adam is the hidden jesus christ/Satan. weißhaupt is the white Brotherhood. Like the Klu Klux Klan.
