Awans - Apparently a sub-clan of the Khattaks?

women in my village believe that if you happened to see an arain woman in the morning, your whole day would be great. :lol:

To be honest most Awans I've met tend to be very chill too, but then of course I've never pissed them off. :D

I like Awans because they can generally take jokes better than other biradiris. Jat, Butt, Gujjar, Rajput, and Pashtuns typically can't take a joke. :lol:

Most people here who try to undermine the claim of Arab origins forget that Arabs have invaded subcontinent either through sea or via Afghanistan, and they had settled here as well. so there are some Arab origins tribes here and those who have strict social boundaries like Awans are most likely to maintain their links.

And as of today's Arabs not being good humans does not matter as we have evolved a separate group settled in separate land with distinct nature which has in this land. Similarly today's arabs have also evolved and are not same as before.

Its not that simple. Yes arabs invaded this land but they were soldiers and did not brought their families in here. If we assume that these arab soldiers/preacher married with local Muslims women but what about generation born after such random inter-racial marriages? They were all locals married to each others i.e so is this change genetic of local people much? I am not expert of genetics but just using my common sense..

depending on the area, NO.
awans come in all shades of skin color from super fair (with light-colored eyes) to very dark depending on the area. i can safely say that 15-20% of awans in my pind are fairer than an average pashtoon. kakku, gora, ratta (red), chittu are pretty common nicknames for kids here. Needless to say Awans' prominent feature is a long pointy and usually hooked nose.

This guy ch is actually a rajput from panjab, whose family settled in potohar, and took ch as surname.

I know a nephew of his who is an colleague.

There is difference between melting in the local population and having accepted limited local population. these tribes have kept their desperate identity.
You cannot do this if you mingle too much with others.
Awans have accepted limited interaction with other tribes and this is the case even today. The trend may vary especially in punjab but in photohar and areas surrounding it it's still very strict tradition not to mix with other.

Such social restrictions are always result of old fierce tribal identity. So the mixing with others was and still is very limited.

He is Alpial, they are native to Potohar

This guy is Malik from south punjab, not sure about him being awan. He was brought up in USA and didn't had any clue when I asked him later on.

You said he was Awan, the south Punjab malik was different

I later on contacted him to confirm his braderi and he didn't had any clue apart from Malik part. He was somewhere from south punjab, don't remember exact district now. Malik is title associated with awans in Kharian and initially I though he might be one. Either way he simply don't know, was brought up in USA.

Now I remember there was another awan I posted somewhere, he's not pure but definitely give idea of their genetics.

There is confirmed awan results somewhere on anthrogenica, its not pure but give general idea about their genetics.

Point is there might be interracial marriage intially between arabs inavaders/merchant/preachers and local native women but then children born in such marriages had no options but to marry with native people generation after generation so how its limited interaction unless you are suggesting that people born in interracial marraige just kept married with men or women of same tribe or race of invaders for many generations which was not the case so this racial purity is nothing but just myth

I think Janjuas also claim descent from Hastinapur, Uttar Pradesh? Most peoples origin stories are not accurate anyways.
