That is another extreme to completely change Islam or try rein it in according to modern understanding. Pakistan already has sufism. The problem is Khwarijites NOT ISLAM. Go do some research on Khwarijites. Otherwise stick to your communism. Your Ataturkist suggestion won't work here. This is also the model lots of Pakistani leaders aspire, including Jinnah and Musharraf.
During the early years of the War on Terror, the President of Pakistan Musharraf stated that the best counter to the current wave of terrorism sweeping across the country was a re-enforcing of our nationalist, cultural identity.
He called it “Enlightened Moderation” and envisaged a Pakistan of a softer Sufi Islam, with more empowerment for minorities and women, less extremism and fundamentalism. Had he had his way, he would have done away with the alcohol prohibitions and Blasphemy laws as well (and indeed, he did propose reforms in the Hadood Ordinance, a religious law enacted by the pro-Theocracy General Zia). Musharraf disliked Burkas and Mullahs.
Unfortunately too many 5th columns in Pakistan trying to subordinate states to religion.
Musharaf made Pakistan the slave girl of America.
