KARACHI: At least 30 people were killed in Pakistan when two buses collided in southern Punjab province, police said on Monday.

Images from the crash site showed a bus on its side with its windows shattered, and another bus with its roof partly caved in.

Officials said the buses collided at about 6 a.m. near Rahim Yar Khan.

"Death toll has climbed to 30," Hassan Iqbal, police inspector of Rahim Yar Khan, told Reuters.

Rescuers earlier said more than 30 people were injured in the crash. Fatal road accidents are common in Pakistan, where traffic rules are rarely enforced and roads in many rural areas are poor.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif´s office said he has "expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives".

I swear to God we need an operation and a plan to combat road accidents and you can cut them down 9/10th if you simply teach the people of pakistan road sense.

Simple road sense how not to blind the driver by giving him flashes at night. How not to over speed and keep some distance between cars.

How to drive carefully and not jay walk and definitely not jay walk with goddamn bikes!!!

How one should not cross the barrier dividing the road with a bike or rickshaw and jump in the middle of the road.

And most important of all which will require and should require operation zarb e azb type of action and that is

One should not come the other way on the road!!!!!!!!
