A joint venture company comprising Kazakhstan Engineering and Turkey's Aselsan is to commence operations later this year in the Central Asian country, Kazahstan's Defence Ministry has announced.
The joint venture - Aselsan Kazakhstan Engineering - was created in 2011 to manufacture electro-optical and night-vision systems for armoured vehicles in particular. One of the earlier projects between the two companies was the equipping of Kazakhstan's BTR-70MD armoured personnel carriers (APC) with the Aselsan ATS-10 thermal sight.
Aselsan is a defence electronics organisation controlled by the Turkish military, while Kazakhstan Engineering is the holding company that sits above Kazakhstan's state-owned defence industrial assets.
