He won't. One of the problems in a democracy and more so if your standing on a wafer thin majority that was cobbled together with a coalition is you really have to pick your priorities. Meaning if you provoke too many 'beehives' they will all gang up and bring your government down. PIA employees are well organized and have deep tentacles in Karachi. That is why I expect the government in this tenure will not take them on. It reminds me of how Margaret Thatcer went about bringing monopolies down. In the first term it was mostly unions and coal miners. Then in the next term she went after British Airways, British Rail etc.

Most brits paks dont use pia due to animal behaviour and i believe it will be lower this year.

Brit paks should ask imran khan, what you going to do for us economically?.
Are you going to give us jobs, after all we have been sending money, helping the economy for many years.

PIA stopped flying to New York and ended operations in USA last year Ameri-Paks were not flying as much except it was popular because of direct flights to Lahore and Karachi

I am glad to see someone taking this matter very serious now. PIA used to give a big revenue & consider one of the pillar to our economy.
Another thing, he mentioned the money he has given to PIA & that surly can tell us, no money is being looted like looters before used to do.

I think its a broken record not worth fixing did they bought in a German dude a couple years ago to fix the airline and he left lol

I know all that but times have changed. Most countries now do not operate airlines. If there is, they are exceptions to the rule and most likely making losses. If not like Emirates they are backed by massive petrodollars and used by those countries to establish their brand identity. Almost all the staff at Emirates is foreign. The senior management is mostly British, American or other European and even aircrew are foreign. Pakistan does not have the money to support that model.

In the modern world the state has increasingly reduced it's footprint in the economy and reverted to just providing the legal environment for free competition to play out. And even if PIA is 'fixed' the fact is PTI government will not be around forever. Comes the next government it will be back to milching the cash cows. That is why PIA, PS, etc need to be got rid off.

Your in US. Airlines like TWA, Pan Am etc had pedigree going back to dawn of the aviation age but they are no more. Free market forces. Survival of the fittest. USA could have bailed out Pan Am and kept it going for next 1,000 years as they can afford to. But they let it go. That points to the underlying culture of success in US that made it a superpower. Pakistan needs dose of that.

It was indeed a success story under Air Marshal Nur Khan,,,,,,for a reversal of the misfortune of PIA, we need to look at potential privatization, professional management that can completely revamp the organisation, the fleet needs to be expanded either through dry lease or through financing, the staff need to be better trained and their needs to be a cull in staff as the organisation is currently overstaffed.Kudos

The problem of PIA is that it is still full of corrupt politicians recruits who were recruited by ganja league & gadari party & PIA is overstaffed. The fact is PIA staff are highly incompetent & they should be terminated so that PIA could be revived successfully.

We got asf for that purpose . What we need to make pia back on track is a professional civil manager not some air marshal who cannot even understand a business plan without asking for assistance from the professionals.
