As Trump vows to stop flow of jobs overseas, U.S. plans to make fighter jets in India

.

as a money making scheme for US incorporated, it's quite good, this climate change crap.. Ivanka is trying to cover up so he wins more lefty zombie votes next time around and because US corporations make billions peddling these lies and selling solar panels to retarded 3rd world governments like India.

.
The whole thing is silly to begin with.
Currently there is no consensus India of buying American fighter jets in and people are talking about manufacturing them.
The right word is Indians. :enjoy:
You guys have even started selling made-in-India f16s to Pak remember? :omghaha:

.
Why not? Who is being harmed here? It's not like US plans to purchase Indian-made F-16s. Workers on F-16 line can be transferred to work on other lines. And didn't Trump promise to jack the defense budget. Plenty of work coming.

Besides, LM will be making money on the deal.

Because It doesn't matter if it's Lockheed getting the benefits and it doesn't matter if there would be more defence spending. It doesn’t even matter that the F-16 has already been built in other countries. It will only matter to Trump and more importantly, to Trump working-class supporters, that a US company, that produces a US fighter, would agree to open a new manufacturing facility in another country, as opposed to building them with American workers for foreign sales.

What narrow-minded thinking. Countless American made components would still go into Indian-assembled F-16s. What about those workers? I'm sorry but Donald Trump and his supporters are economic illiterates.

Politics is about perception, not facts.
The question is if Donald Trump will survive renegading from a core value.
He is riding a wave, and his supporters will back him regardless what he says - up to a point.
If he is perceived to suddenly become an ordinary politician, which cannot deliver,
then nothing in the US will be greater than his fall from grace.

Trump's economic policies are not only a reversal of American trade policy going back for decades, they will be a 180 degree turn away from his own party's free trade, free market, polices. On this issue, he will even face opposition from his own party in the Congress.

Sir, I think his party is done opposing him. You need to realize 60% of Republicans didn't want him to be an elected nominee, 30% were supporting him but behind the scenes hoping he would lose, the rest 10% were openly opposing him. What happened? He defied all gravity and became the POTUS. He has challenged everyone in his party and everyone outside of his party. His party will now run behind him, because at this point, he is "the man" for them. No one else would've put the Republicans back in the power but Mr. Trump. Period.

So, he is "the party" now, the Chief of RNC (Reince Priebus) will be the new White House Chief of Staff , I hope you understand how sharp and smart Mr. Trump is. I personally don't think there is even one person his caliber in the US politicians today. I said this before for Mr. Obama due to his international and ethnic experiences. Mr. Trump for sure is in the same league if not a level above due to his global business and management experience.
With regards to the jobs, hell yea, we want our jobs back in here, in the good old USA :usflag:! Why should we donate our jobs in millions to bring other countries' middle class up? That makes 0% sense. We want our middle class to go up and up, and our lower class to become the middle class. That's how America runs, by taking care of her own first (like any other country).

You may be right, and I am one of those who opposed him, but this is the one issue that I think will nevertheless, get the most opposition from ideological conservatives like myself.

Sir, with all due respect, where did you get the "ideology" that tells you to wholesale your nation out to others? That you become poor and left behind in dust and others take your money and climb the ladder of power and riches? How many millions of jobs have we gotten from China or India? (if anyone from India or China responds, do know that putting your money in the US, and then using that money to hire and bring more Indians or Chinese, doesn't mean creating jobs in the US as this is a trick to expand your footprint here, the same footprint Mr. Trump is trying to remove). So we are not stupid or born yesterday. We know what's up.

This is the time we got our status and jobs back. There is no effing ideology that says our kids should graduate with degrees and work at $ 10-15 an hour jobs with $ 100K in student loans and debt. While others come from overseas and have no debt, and start making $ 70-80 k right away and keep sending 80% money overseas while living with 8 people in a 2 bedroom apartment with $ 300 per person monthly expense. While our American kids suffer and are getting depressed due to not finding suitable jobs.

We need our children to get those jobs, pay their debt and have a good life, so that our own system continues. People coming from the outside, send hundreds of billions back to their home countries while that money could've stayed here if American graduates got those jobs. Period!

What small chance there ever was for any production in India, has effectively ended with the election of Mr. Trump.

There was never any chance of that anyway. LM has been lobbying hard but both GoI and IAF had rejected the proposal multiple times.

.
If Dr Trump does practice to his promised slogans, then out of many nations, only India will feel hurt the most given his anti-outsourcing premises. Indian's beloved man is going to bite the loving hand of Indians? #Who would have thunk... :D

Except that if F-16 is not manufactured in India, its line would close anyway. There are no new orders coming for F-16 from USAF as it undercut F-35 of Lockmart. India's only interest in F-16 is due to promise of Lockmart to shift whole assembly line to India, thus learning about management and industrial practices of Lockmart. If no Indian manufacturing for F-16, no F-16 in IAF. Rafale and LCA combo suit India well as adding more aircraft in same category is inefficient and uneconomical.

Though Trump supporters are illiterates on economy, and Trump may kill this deal for sake of optics.

It is neither ideology nor charity, but an international accord (Uruguay round of WTO) in which developed countries opened their markets to advanced goods and services of developed countries ,in lieu of developing countries opening their market to goods and services from developing countries.

A lot of what Trump has promised could only be accomplished if USA withdraws from WTO, and rest would lead to matching reprisals against US companies in developing countries.

He may. As I said earlier, I'm more of a free market adherent and disagree with his economic nationalism, but he may do exactly what you suggest.

I'm guessing you are just venting your own views rather than seriously asking to understand why ideological conservatives like Reagan, Thatcher, etc., believed in free trade and free markets, so I will leave it at that.
