Speed of talks has increased: Parrikar on Indo-China border agreement | Zee News
Last Updated: Tuesday, May 26, 2015 - 21:58
New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said that the process for border agreement with China has been initiated, but added that it would take time to resolve the present problem.
"There are confidence-building measures which had already been initiated. The speed of talks has increased. I think a lot depends on these aspects so that we can resolve the problem. But it is not a five minute task... it will take much longer, but the exercise is on," Parrikar said in an exclusive interview with ANI.
Earlier in the month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution on the issue of the Line of Actual Control during his visit of China, reiterating the importance of a clarification for the same.
In the 1962 Indo- China war, the LAC was the informal cease-fire line between the two warring states until 1993, when its existence was officially accepted in a bilateral agreement. However, frequent infringements are carried out by both countries.
