there is nothing to respond. south asians are hardly in a position to mock each other on poverty.
i suggest you take care of the 50% pakistanis who are now in poverty, with more falling in poverty each year. we are pulling our 37.2% out of poverty on a good rate every year.

I agree about south asia.. the figure is about 20% in reality not 50% according to the human development index. Btw.. 60% live below 2 dallors a day in Pak, while the figure is 75% in india.. While Bangladesh has 80%

Also note there is poverty and then there is poverty at the national wage line of 1.25 USD.

In absolute terms, 41.6 per cent of India's 1.1 billion people earned less than 78 pence per day compared with 22.6 per cent of Pakistan's 173 million.

The report quotes its 'multi-dimensional poverty index' which includes measures of schooling, child mortality, nutrition, access to electricity, toilets, drinking water, and hygienic living conditions, and reveals India is poorer.

It found 53.7 per cent of Indians suffering from this broader kind of poverty, compared with 49 per cent of Pakistanis.

More surprisingly, India is ranked below Pakistan and Bangladesh on gender equality which reflects maternal death rates, teenage pregnancies, access to education, and the number of women parliamentarians and in the workplace.

For sure it is not an achievement to celebrate ..
As far as poverty is concerned i know how beneficial it is for a family to declare itself as poor and how easy it is to give bribe and take a certificate on low annual income ..

It is by my personal experience as i am a government official ..
An actual survey from private firm on poverty will pleasantly surprise everyone

if daily labour (unskilled) is getting 5$ to 9$ here then they dont need magic or govt assistance to get out of poverty ..pretending to be one is altogether a different issue

Well india muslim % is more then around 15% and almost 14.5% of Muslims in india are poor..... can't do much in till they want to remain poor and don't want to uplift themselves. One time they even tries to stop India's drive to irradiate Polio.


Moreover i have told the previous post with calulations, India;s Poor are not as poor as other countries people are. Moreover India poor is equivalent to chinese worker and they can eat and live healthy.

So please goto calculation where i told Mr. Haq to respond to my calculation and they he become the laughing stock on India poor thing.

abe tujhe zyada pata hai. we r proud of our billionares like ratan tata, ambanis and 100s others. they gave jobs to millions of ppl, bought foreign companies, brought wealth and innovations to india. we have much less poverty % than u guys.
