Army denies involvement in abduction of writer Bukhari

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan army on Saturday denied any involvement in the abduction of a writer and rights activist who was kidnapped for several hours this week.

Gul Bukhari, a dual Pakistani-British national, was on her way to record a television programme late on Tuesday in the eastern city of Lahore when her vehicle was intercepted and she was taken away by unidentified men, her husband and media colleagues said.

British minister ‘deeply concerned’ over Gul Bukhari’s abduction

“We have nothing to do with it. I think this incident should be investigated thoroughly,” Inter-Services Public Relations Director-General Major-General Asif Ghafoor said.

Ghafoor said he had checked with every intelligence agency working for the army whether Bukhari had been detained by them shortly after the abduction was reported.

After her release, Bukhari, herself the daughter of a late army general, said on Twitter that she was well and asked for privacy

Bhai one small question, How can you blame Army with out any investigation? Abhi journalist abduction was not completed that Army was given the blame. This is pure move to defame Army. If the abduction was a state act I could expect the return of Gul in the evening because that not how army works.

Once again News related to Social Media. Sir who told you there is no investigation against generals? I am shocked at your words. This Journilist that is being so called abducted and came home in the evening has not issued a single statement that she was abducted by Army. Yeh tu woh baat ho gai Mudai sust Gawah chust. The person him self has not blamed any one and some a** holes are bent on blaming the Army lol. In every law you need to have proof to convict any one even in the western countries. Agar kanoon aap kay mutabiq chalnay lagay tu justice will not happen in courts but talk shows. lol.

few Bad eggs are every where but they are very few in Army. A person who has a heart to take bullets for his country cannot harm his country.
