Armor Piercing 5.56 -VS- 1/2 inch steel Plate.

...the plate lost. Today I hit this 1/2 inch steel plate with two 62 g. armor piercing rounds and one 'plain' 55 g. FMJ round from 200 yards. I was shocked at the devastation. Like a hot knife though butter. The last round I shot missed the plate and hit the chain holding it. That was the end of that. I have another plate that's a little thicker. Next weekend I'll see how that works out.

OH GEEZ !! I like you, dude. I would never use the armor piercing 5.56 on you. I'd use 9mm JHP .

The shot that dented the plate was from the plain 5.56 by 45 round?

XM855 is on par with 7N6 which have mild steel cores. XM855A1 is on par with 7N6M which have hard steel cores.
