I think you are missing the whole point of evolution. You see F-16, was it Block 60 from the moment it was produced in late 80's or did it evolve. Point is Pakistan doesn't need all Block 3 everything integrated aircrafts. Not all US squadron's are equipped with the latest one's. The point is you have to develop a program which can evolve with the passage of time. Rather then waiting 30 years to roll out a complete package, you have to try different levels and then integrate as per your requirement. Pakistan has done a great job by evolving and we should appreciate it under the circumstances of low budget and international sanctions. You are seeing a great bird as per our needs for all type of operations. Insha Allah it is and will always be a pride of Pakistan.
Hi,
In the world of engineering science---it does not work that way---. Even though---it is the first time that paf has ventured into the arena---but technically it is not.
Both pakistan and china are nations known to make copies of other products---so---basically it is impressed upon their genetic markers that they can take these engineering endeavors very well.
With 2 years of testing the Gripen, a year + testing the Rafale, almost 20 years operating the F16---multiple decades of using the mirage 3/5---and exposure to other aircraft in the western world---had made their jobs easier.
If the Paf fell short of what was needed---it was not due to the fact that it was the first time---it was because of internal issues.
That is why I keep saying to the pakistani public---do not apologize on behalf of Paf---. Let them asnwer----because when you take the heat off the paf's back----you are inadvertantly justifying the lower standard or a lesser product.
Why Argentina choose the second hand Kfir Aircraft on JF-17 because of the ELTA AESA radar, why Brazil buying Grippen because marketed with AESA radar and other technologies.
If you like to compete in international market than you must provide all requirements Now to buyer countries as provided your competitors Grippen, kfir and as you know the Indians are trying to cancel the Pak Sri Lanka JFT deal we must equipped the JFT with all available state of the art technologies if we want to compete in International Market.
Hi,
Argentina is not buying anything----. It does not have the funds---not even for the Kfir---.
Even the Kfir does not meet their needs---. The prime reason for not getting the JF17 is the funds---and secondly---no CM400AKG type AShM was available to them. China would not sell it due to british pressure or offending britain.
And yes---the product needs to be readfy to be sold---not " half ready ".
When you want to sell your product---it is not based upon---" we feel it is fit for the buyer "---
AESA for any 4++ Gen fighter is a must and some how i feel little uncomfortable with current positioning of F17 in international market e.g JF17 is marketed to those who have older A5,F7s ,Mirages ,ALpha fighters etc ,problem with this positioning is that all these are 3rd Gen fighters and world has moved mostly to 4++ plus 5th Gen in mind now imagine for a moment that your selling bid is to reduce 3rd Gen planes but world is already moving min to 4th,4++ ,5th Gen (for the sheer debate im not mentioning 6th Gen) . Please see JF17 in pic below for positioning

Hi,
For quite a few nations---the JF17 non aesa would be leagues ahead of what they had. For them---they have to familiarize themselves with gadgets that pickup an enemy from a 100 km away rather than the 3-10 kilometer away capability they had.
The JF17 with the KLJ2 maybe the most advanced thing in that arena for years to come---and then with the offered upgrades---the aircraft can get the much needed tech in years to come when the air force has made itself familiar with the aircraft.
The JF17 is in a unique position to offer the market two different versions at the same time---.
