Are the UAE-India ties going down after warming relations?

Another issue in Gulf states:

Coronavirus | Most COVID-19 positive Indians abroad are in the Gulf

Of the 3,336 infected Indians spread across 53 countries, 2,061 are in Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia

The majority of Indians who tested positive for coronavirus infection abroad are located in the Gulf countries, a source familiar with the figures said on Thursday.

The official maintained that India had sufficient quarantine facilities to house the affected individuals. However, a decision was taken not to evacuate the affected nationals spread across the world because of the highly contagious nature of the novel coronavirus that causes the infection.

“There is no shortage of quarantine facilities in India. In fact, the nature of the virus is such that it spreads very fast. Therefore it is good that they remain where they are to avoid further spreading the virus, both in their host countries as well as in India,” said the source. India evacuated a few batches of citizens from Italy, Iran and China in the initial phase of the pandemic in February and early March, but subsequently has asked the citizens abroad to “stay put” where they are.

The official said that a total of 3,336 Indians spread across 53 countries have tested positive for the novel coronavirus and 25 Indians have died in the consequent COVID-19 infection. Out of the total, around 2,061 are in Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. On the northern coast of the Gulf, Iran also continues to host around 308 affected Indians, mainly in the cities of Qom and Tehran.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been in frequent contact with the Arab leaders of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council over the last two months as the cases increased among the blue collar Indian expats. The health related issues of the Indian workers in the region had been taken up most recently by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who wrote to Mr. Modi expressing concern about the “well being of Indian diaspora” in the region, especially in Dubai.

The United Arab Emirates has extended an offer to evacuate all affected Indian nationals following required medical tests, though New Delhi is yet to respond to that gesture. Earlier, on April 13, India sent a Rapid Response Team to Kuwait which held interactions with officials there, as the Gulf monarchy emerged as the largest host of Indians affected by the novel coronavirus abroad. The United Arab Emirates is also among the 54 countries where India is supplying the anti-malarial drug HydroxyChloroquine which is being tried in COVID-19 treatment. Apart from the Gulf nations, Singapore with 634 Indians is the other big hot spot. Italy (91), Malaysia (37), Portugal (36), Ghana (29), U.S. (24), Switzerland (15) and France (13) are some of the other countries on the list.

To deal with the emerging situation, the Ministry of External Affairs set up a COVID-19 Control Room in March to serve as the nodal body for dealing with the Indians and their families living abroad. Giving an impression of the extent of the interaction with people who have reached out to the nodal body, the official said that around 18,000 emails have been answered by the COVID-19 Control Room in the last few weeks. That apart, 5,000 phone calls and 2,000 public grievances were also addressed regarding the welfare of Indians who are abroad in the current difficult circumstances.

Meanwhile, India has helped in the repatriation of a large number of citizens of major countries like the United Kingdom, Australia, Russia and the United States among others. The source said that around 35,000 foreign nationals have been repatriated from India till now. On Thursday, 425 Australians left in a chartered flight and 41 Pakistanis returned home through the Wagah-Attari border. The repatriation of foreign nationals is being coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs and locally based foreign missions.

“These are extraordinary times. Pakistan had specific requests and we provided support for the movement of the citizens of Pakistan,” said the official after 41 Pakistani nationals were sent home through the Attari-Wagah border. The Pakistan High Commission said that they will repatriate around 145 citizens in the coming days.

Is Islamophobia in India isolating it from its closest Gulf partners?
Royals lashing out at Indians, and OIC urges Modi to halt Muslim hate in Hindustan

(RAHNUMA) In a major embarrassment to Indians among its economic partners the world’s Muslim majority states, the human rights body of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) urged the Government of India to do more to criminalize, punish and halt violence against Muslims in the country, particularly during the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic.

In the statement, the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC), an expert human rights body with the OIC, condemned a “vicious” campaign in India against Muslims being accused of spreading the coronavirus.

“#OIC-IPHRC condemns the unrelenting vicious #Islamophobic campaign in #India maligning Muslims for spread of #COVID-19 as well as their negative profiling in media subjecting them to discrimination & violence with impunity,” it said on Twitter.

In India, the coronavirus has killed 543 people while a total 17,615 have been infected by the virus.

However, the COVID-19 outbreak has exacerbated Islamophobic attacks and country’s largest minority, Muslims — who account for over 14% of country’s 1.3 billion population — have been attacked and accused of spreading the disease.

The OIC rights body called on New Delhi to protect the country’s nearly 200 million Muslims from Islamophobic campaigns.

Anti-Muslim violence and condemnation has further mounted due to anti-Muslim media coverage rife in the country.

“#OIC-IPHRC urges the #Indian Govt to take urgent steps to stop the growing tide of #Islamophobia in India and protect the rights of its persecuted #Muslim minority as per its obligations under int’l [international] HR law,” the IPHRC statement added.

In March 2019, late External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had addressed the 46th session of Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the invite of the UAE, and others, despite Pakistani protests, and boycott.

This was seen as a major set back to Pakistan’s influence in the OIC, which isolated India from the organization since its inception over fifty years ago. It was also the first time India had been invited to address the OIC meeting.

So welcome was this foreign policy victory of India over Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi even spoke over telephone with Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and thanked him for the invitation extended to India to address the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Council as a Guest of Honour.

However, the recent developments in India are unfortunately proving to be somewhat embarrassing for Indians, especially after Indians were being called out by members of the UAE Royal Family for hate-speech, and were even told to ‘leave’ the UAE.

To make matters worse, the following day, a five year old anti-Arab and misogynist Tweet openly insulting Arab women by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya surfaced.

According to credible sources, the statement was not an Indian statement, rather repeated by the hate filled MP, who should ve banned from visiting Arab countries according to many on Arab social media. It was originally made by a Pakistani who according to unnamed sources, is accused of “most likely” being a “foreign intelligence asset”, working to divide India on communal grounds to undermine its global image of secularism, and “ultimately justify support for the Khalistan movement”.

These claims are merely allegations, and while they sound reasonable, cannot be independently verified.

The BJP MP’s disgusting Tweet of the Pakistani hate speech claimed, “95% Arab women have never had an orgasm in the last few hundred years! Every mother has produced kids as act of sex and not love..”.

The statement has caused a major uproar in the Gulf, particularly in Kuwait, where people are calling for the MP to be sacked by the Indian Government.

In a clear sign of going into
urgent damage control, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Pavan Kapoor Tweeted, “India and UAE share the value of non-discrimination on any grounds. Discrimination is against our moral fabric and the Rule of law. Indian nationals in the UAE should always remember this.”

NRI remittance to India from GCC countries in 2016 alone amounted to nearly 50% of the total remittance, at a whopping $36 billion USD, with UAE and Saudi Arabia at nearly $25 billion USD on their own.

Your God @waz is watching your every step. :D

So let him watch.

Posting news is not against forum rules is it ? :D

Also he should be happy that I am doing something no pakistani has the guts to do. Wave the flag of islam before the chinese :D

Besides his forum clicks goes up due to my posts. I don't think he has too much reason to complain. :azn:

. .

He should not only show action, but should compensate for his follies in foreign affairs ... otherwise, there are more tweets and statements from OIC on Kashmir, Rohingay etc. if that helps!

On the subject, there never were any warming up, beyond pdf propaganda.
Infact Pakistan's foreign office have people appointed and promoted by Zardari, who will not miss any chance to make moves and statements hurting Arab sentiments, undermining GCC interests and sovereignty, which ought to trigger reactive response.

.
Not our business. Those are Indian expats in UAE. If they were to go unpunished for abusing Islam, Pakistan could raise concern. Otherwise, no. Foreign Office should highlight the racism in India, and ofcourse Kashmir issue, but why comment on this spat. Let it be.

People need to see the truth for themselves, not be shown the truth.

Don't try to jump into everything.

Frankly would say this, Sitatuation is very concerning for Pakistanis, since we are Muslims, We believe in Islam, Our Arab women are also Muslims and believe in Islam, it is our duty right as being Muslims to protect our Arab women and girls from insults and derogatory words from Hindus and Indians or Indian Muslims attacked by fascists.

Yes what matters most is the types of support we give that is moral, verbal, monetary, weapons, diplomatic, economic, freedom of expression, whistle blower, truth speaker, or stay silent, is how a Pakistani can choose to respond, and I chose free method of communciation, freedom of expression to protect the weak from the ruthless dogs.

Black has no superiority over White man and Whites are not superior to Blacks, Arab are not better than a non-Arab and a Muslim is no better than a Non-Muslims. We are all equal, that is what Islam teaches us to follow.

So atleast let us expose the Evil from the Good. Call spade a spade a Pakistani Sprit. The effect has happened massively if you see. Thats all.

. .
So Tarek Fateh is a Pakistani foreign asset now?
WTF are these sanghis smoking?

If he was in Pakistan, he would have already faced the death penalty for blasphemy.

He elected to run away to India instead and convert to Hinduism. The Indians welcomed him with open arms and used his services to promote Hindutva and Ghar wapsi (their idea of conversion of Muslims to Hinduism.)

Now all of a sudden he is a Pakistani, while BJP and other extreme outfits lived on his tweets for years as proof against Islam, Muslims, and Pakistan.

There is another 'Major' Adnan Sami, a more moderate apostate who has a similar story. After being fat-shamed out of the Pakistani showbiz industry, he ran to India where he was welcomed for his white skin and curly hair. When he had liposuction, he re-invented himself and marketed his hate for Pakistan. This made him popular in India, but I hear he is facing hard times also.

The fate of Murtaddeen (apostates) is never kind. Look at Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Salman Rushdi, etc.

Many Indians here said its all rosy, Arabs, UAE, Saudia relations are all okay with India....Too much Lovy dovy :smitten:..LoL
