There is no ancient names as our country were originally a series of kingdoms, empires and sultanates before the majapahitan empire's quest to unify the islands (similar to Japanese's Sengoku Jidai). The only name used to call the other lands are Nusantara, although this name includes Malaysia, Brunei, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam as They were territory of Majahit, or they're allies of Majapahitan empire like southern Vietnam Champa kingdom and Thailand's Tambralinga kingdom. As for the name Indonesia, I think that name is merely Soekarno's idea.
