Hi, i'm a newbie in android modding scene & i just rooted my sister's G2 with TowelRoot & proceeded with AutoRec to backup recovery & then it asked me to go in to recovery mode & i tapped on it & boom, not working since. All i'm seeing is Grey/White vertical lines on screen & i tried with volume up/down+power button & it restarts back with same grey lines. The PC is not even pocking up the device even with latest LG drivers.
Screen is like this now.

Please help me.

Can you go in download mode?
If yes then try flash stock rom.
If this not work then your best chance is xda forums or try Google your problem.maybe some body have this same problem before.

Is it possible that you used incorrect files for rooting/modding ?

The lines across your LCD are a bad sign, maybe the display cable needs to be replaced or the LCD unit itself.

As mentioned earlier, your best bet is to flash the stock rom and XDA has the right guides. Just make sure you find one for your device, not other models.

After searching constantly for 24 hours with no luck, i just decided to bring it to a local software repair center & the guy removed the back cover & showed me its real model number which is LS980 not D802. That's why it got Fu*ked up b/c of wrong files. Bl**dy mobile dealer cheated me. Even the system was showing D802 as model number in About menu before it got soft bricked. Strange.

Anyways, the repair guy asked for 1000/- rupees for software repair & i'll go there 10:30PM to see if it came back to life or not. He said it may work or go hard brick.

Lets hope for the best. :/

I just wanted to theme the device & improve the performance & battery life by loading a custom rom on it. Never gonna touch my sister's phone ever again.

well people will say you broke the phone which is not the case here . power off the phone and take out the battery for 2-3 hours. reinsert the battery and go for downloading mode instead of recovery mode , Use Odin software and install new ROM. as you have crashed the ROM so its better to re partition

Yes i downloaded D802 files for LS980 b/c mobile dealer scammed me. The problem is, it is not going into recovery mode. Didn't tried that battery trick but i saw the repair guy was doing the same thing with Odin application on his computer screen with mobile terminal he was sending commands in to it. It responded, LG logo appeared & then it stuck with some coding on screen. Another G2 was also there with same problem & he tried the same thing on it too with same results. Well now he asked for another day. Lets see.
Btw he was taking guides from XDA. Lol

When you brick a phone, random lines don't appear on the screen !
Yes. You can say it's a soft bricked but not a hard bricked. Hard bricked phone can't even power the screen.

The repair guy still haven't fixed it yet. :/

Recovering a soft bricked phone is not a big deal !!

Hit XDA-forums !

Yes maybe but i'm totally newbie in android modding stuff. I'm a Apple user for 5 years straight & i know about most things about jealbreaking & cydia stuff & Android is very complicated system b/c of lack of safety features. Example, in iOS after Jailbreaking, there is a feature called 'Safe Mode'. Like if you do some thing stupid to it or Install a wrong tweak or extension, you could always remove that problematic tweak in safe mode & return back to normal mode without any hassle. & even if you F it up big then just plug it in iTunes & restore the iOS. Very simple.

Now the thing is, i don't understand android rooting stuff so i don't wanna mess with it even more b/c i read somewhere on XDA forums that if you perform the fixing process wrong, you can also hard brick the device.

Seems like that software repair guy couldn't get it to work.

Btw do you know about this stuff or just basics?

You destroyed the phone... huhahaha.. just kidding.
The issue is solvable, but I am not too sure about the process for it for LG G2. I recovered my phone recently from a similar issue so it is not something you should be worried about.
The problem is that when you root a phone the stock recovery stops working.
So basically what you would be doing is connecting your phone to a computer and flashing a new recovery using fastboot and voila you will be back on track.
Clockwork mod is a good recovery to use here.
LG G2 Reddit is a good way to find how you will need to do this.
