Days after the Uttar Pradesh administration’s utter lapse led to the massacre of over 100 children at a Gorakhpur hospital, another appalling case of broken healthcare in the state has emerged. This time the shocking news has come from the state capital, Lucknow.

At the state-run Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Lucknow, parts of the body of a woman were allegedly eaten up by a dog, prompting authorities to terminate the services of the security supervisor and a guard today, reported PTI.

Pushpa Tiwari (40), a resident of Chinhat, was admitted to the hospital’s emergency ward as a suspected case of celphos poisoning. She died last night during treatment, Hospital Director Dr Devendra Negi said. The woman’s body was kept in a deep freezer in the mortuary as an autopsy had to be conducted since it was a medico-legal case.

But this morning, her family members alleged that “parts of her face and neck were eaten up by a dog”. They also claimed that her ear rings and nose pin were missing.

A police team, which reached the spot, found paw marks of a dog near the channel gate of the mortuary.

Principal Secretary (Health) Prashant Trivedi said an inquiry has been ordered into the incident to fix responsibility. An FIR has also been registered in connection with the matter, he said.

The services of the security supervisor and a guard have been terminated on charges of dereliction of duty, he said.

The Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences is a super-speciality hospital and one of the reputed and leading autonomous teaching institutes established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Lets hope that there is a proper investigation and Guidelines are imposed for the future...Good decision to sack the Supervisor and the Guard...

things like this happen. the real question is what happens to those in negligence of duty
in India we have shielded incompetent people for a long time. right now there is little patience to protect
the incompetent.

"Things like these happen" only in india

The fact that you came here to defend it, reflects on your perceived value in society. Maybe they teach you (not in schools but as treated in daily life by the government and the society itself) that being eaten up by a dog in a hospital is considered normal.

because they (Indians) know they worst than all the animals

Is this why Hindus find dog-meat offensive? Because Hindu tenets decree only the reverse, dogs eating people, can be permitted?

I've always wondered Hinduism is such a misanthropic religion, why it prioritizes all other living creatures over humans...

dog eating a cadaver or a dead body is not the same as the dog eating a patient
living patients are not sent to the mortuary. you should try to improve your reading comprehension.
